How Much Do You Pay For Infant Child Care?

She lives about 22 miles from me, but I think that even having to pay for gas to get out there (about $5.00 per day), it would be worth it, just to be able to avoid her own child care costs! Opinions?

GonnaBe- I am a licensed daycare provider I charge infants $225.00 a week.

I think that sounds adequate, Currently my MIL comes to the house and watches Caden. We only pay her $100 a week. So that is getting off easy. but she isn't going to be watching him anymore in a few weeks so we are now looking for child care. I've talked to one lady who just watches a could kids at her house and she charges 25-30 per day and we have to bring food/diapers/extra clothes. but no toys or anything. THe daycares around here are charging between $150-$225 a week (PIttsburgh PA area). Hope this helps. gl!

Fran...Im sure you are very careful about who you leave your child with. Always remember tho, a home daycare, you have no way to track who comes & goes from that home. A daycare has sign in sheets & such. A home babysitter can have visitors. So as daycare workers have background checks, home providers generally do not. If they are state funded or accredited, they wont or thier leagl husband wont have a record. But... You also have no way to know if her son, Brother, or Sister's new Boyfriend is a sex offender. Please don't get me wrong...some home daycare providers are awesome.

I had my 3yr old at a home daycare & tripped over toys spread all over, AFTER I went to her home to get my child, she became very rude & ugly, insulting my weight & telling me she just rents & has no home owners to sue. I had made no claim to sue, or even that I was upset. Later after we had quit using her, I just so happen to search her addy & she had registered sex offender living on her street too. So please be careful!!!

We are doing well! I know it is soo hard! My daycare is soo awesome...it is an actual Board of education licensed private school, that has a PreSchool & Daycare for the siblings of Children that are enrolled. I just got lucky & a friend of friend got me in! Woohoo

I am a SAHM now, but I quit when ds was 1. I paid $2.25 an hr back then for an in home lady..which we loved! Brought his breastmilk/formula..baby food. Once he was on solids, she supplied regular food. Brought his diapers/wipes etc. My girlfriend pays $600 a month for her infant in a local public center. I'm in the midwest..so I'm sure its cheaper here.

Personally, I would go with in home if you can. Public centers have much more sanitary issues...germs, illness etc and it might not be as personable!

Mrs Miller- No offense but I would like to set the record straight- at least where I live in Massachusetts

Each member living in my home over the age of 18 is CORI checked- and no I cannot have people coming and going (friends etc ) stopping by or any other- I could loose my license- During daycare hours ONLY those certified and licensed are aloud to be caring for the children- Now I know there are people out there that do not follow this rule- but my parents of the kids are welcome to stop by anytime, no calls necessary first- and they all know the rules.. I am happy to be honest with with them-

I agree whom ever is watching your kids- you must do your home work- I worked in a Center for 5 years- and to tell you the truth the things I saw going on there- did not make me feel real comfortable that I would ever send my child to a center- and so when I went back to work when DS was 9 weeks, our choice was a home provider and we were so happy- it was part of the reason I opened up my own daycare-
