how many IVF gals over 40 have gotten BFP's and after how many IVF's?

I was 44 when I got pregnant on the second round of ivf...I used my own eggs too...It does happen and we have our beautiful little girl now. Don't give up. Miracles do happen. Best of luck to you.

Darlene - Did you say you were 44? I was told that I would have to have IVF before my 43 birthday. I was told that was the standard rule for IVF...have I been misinformed?

I personally have not had IVF but my sister did at 40 and she only had to deal with it once and she has two girls (twins) now who are 7 years old already. Best of luck!!!

Yup, I was 44 when I did my first and second ivf...I don't know the official protocol but my doctor let me make the decision after he told me the likelihood of a successful pregnancy at my age...5% success rate, but I decided to go for it anyway being the gambler that I am and it worked!

Oh I'm so glad that I could help in some small way. I know when I first looking into ivf at my age I saw nothing but depressing, sad stories...but good things also happen. We just always hear about the bad all the time. Yuck. Stay positive, eat healthy, drink lots and lots of water...All my best thoughts and prayers to you...

One of the ladies I work with has a friend that did ivf at age 44 and 46 and it worked both times...can you believe it? She has two beautiful children now. She encouraged me when I was going thru it...I thought if she can do it at 46 than maybe I have a small glimmer of hope...it only takes one good egg!

thanks so much for your input-our doc gave us a 10% chance yesterday and it would be our 2nd if we do it. I feel like I have a good feeling about it but am afraid to think that way. the hardest thing about all this stuff is the amount of brain space it has taken up for the past 2.5 years....not too mention finances! did your health insurance pay for it??

Joiede, so glad you made this post.. where are you now in the cycle? I am having my ET tommorow, 3 fertilized out of 4 eggs.. Pretty good since the RE tried to convert to IUI last week due to poor response. Last cycle I got only 3 eggs!!

Can't wait for an update!
