I am 22 years old and my husband is 23. We have been trying to conceive for one year. I found out in the fall of 2007 that I have PCOS. The only symptom of PCOS that I have is the cystic ovary part and irregular/non existent periods. I am not over weight, not hairy, have no sugar problems or anything like that. All my tests have come back normal thus far other than the pcos on ultrasound.
I am currently on round #5 of clomid. I did round #1-3 on 50mg of clomid and ovulated each time. Now, round 4-6 I am up to 100mg of clomid. Thus far I have not been able to get pregnant.
My husband had his levels checked and we are told that he is fine in that area. My specialist in wanting to me complete 6 rounds of clomid then take a two month break and then go on Femara for 6 months.
Is there still a chance at me getting pregnant on the femara seeing it didn't take on the clomid or am I just wasting my time.
I know things take time but am wondering if there is any benefit to staying on the lower doses. I am ovulating so that is good but I am not sure why I am not getting pregnant.
It has been recommended by some that we look at maybe doing IUIs but we live over 2 hours from the city. We are young and would like to try the lower cost saving methods first.
How long can we continue taking these types of meds before it is deemed that they are not working and that I wont get pregnant on my own?
I am just wondering what your advice would be for someone in a situation like mine.
Another thing I thought I should mention is that they told us my husbands counts were around 34 million per mil and that he had 3mil of vol in his sample but they weren't 100% how accurate that was because they only performed the test almost 5 hours after the sample was given so..... I don't know if this should be taken into acccount or not.
Another thing to is that I know it can take up to a year for an average couple to get pregnant and that is where I am wondering if we should be giving Femara a shot the way my specialist wants to seeing that I am ovulating...I am just confused and don't know really what is best. What else can be recommended at this point? I should also mention that I had an HSG done and my tubes are clear. Thanks.

I'm sure Dr. Mike will see this question later on, but remember that he'll give you his opinion as a Dr. in Acupuncture...
not sure if you already asked Dr. Sepilian as well, as he'll also give you a perspective from an RE standpoint...
