I have a question... I have a baby who is 11 weeks old and I started birth control pills back about 5 weeks ago. I have had 1 period so far and am 1 week into my 2nd month of pills. I was wondering how long it takes for birth control to kick in? And also what should your basal body temp be while taking the pill? I have been having breast pain and a little cramping so I think I may have ovulated on my own... I took my temp this morning right when I woke up to see and it was 98.45, so I'm wondering if I ovulted on the pill. I'm a little worried because my husband and I have had unprotected sex and an 11 week old baby! Thanks for your help Dr.Q!

bcps basically kick in for all intensive purposes immediately and if you've taken the pill consistently, then little to worry about..
Remeber, the main active ingridient of birth control pills is Progesterone, which will give you these symptoms along with a possible elevation in BBT... so these are not good markers for ovulation
