Hi! After reading on THIS SITE that testosterone gels can lead to low sperm count, My DH stopped using it and his endocrinoogist put him on HCG 5000 units twice weekly. He has hypogonadism from a pituitary tumor. Any idea how long it may take until his sperm count is higher? Last SA was 9 mil. I'm guessing at least 3 months?

Yes, 2-3 months is when sperm counts should rise significantly as that's how long they take to make

yup, takes 3 months - i think i read 90 days - to make new spermies so that makes sense.

Thanks to both of you Dr Q and Chelsh! Now that we have found out our problem, this is going to be a long 3 months! Well, actually 2 months cuz DH started injections the first of Dec.

thats great that you found the issue - i didnt know that test creams made the sperm funky???? Why woudl that be?

I guess what happens is since you are adding a topical form of testost that the testes shut down from making it internally because it gets the signal that it is being made elsewhere in the body. So if the testes shut down, no spermies! That is my uneducated explaination! Weird huh?
