Hello Doctors and ladies!

I am at 7 wks and 2 days. Yesterday I woke up and had what I would call significant brown spotting/ dishcharge. It took a few wipes to get rid of the brown. Sorry tmi...

This is the second time this has happened. The first time about a week/ week and a half ago I got a little nervous and called my cousin who is also a nurse and she said she had it throughout her pregnancy and she was fine. She warned me to call my ob only if it got worse, was accompanied by cramping, or turned red. It did none of these, so I stopped worrying and abstained from sex for a couple days.

Now that I had the spotting again I got worried and called my ob and she ordered an ultrasound and blood work at the hospital. I went in yesterday and had both done and I must say I was very relieved to see that little tiny heartbeat. That's an amazing feeling I've never had before!

However, they said I might not hear results for a 2 to 3 days. What if there is a problem and they find it too late to do anything?

What do you guys think? Should I be concerned? Avoid or do anything in particular?

This is quite common and usually things are ok, and hope they are for you... if there's a lot of pain, then visit a doc immediately

Thank you SO much Dr. Q.

I've just been having some "pressure cramping." I don't really know how else to explain it. I simply feel like someone is pushing on my uterus and it normally happens when I lay down at night for about 5 minutes.

I really appreciate your help. I was just worried!

at this early on hun there's nothing they can do to prevent a miscarriage. It's all in gods hands. But seeing a heartbeat is a great sign. Hang in there and I'd avoid sex for awhile longer.

Hi Bekah,

I'm at 5 1/2 weeks and I haven't had any spotting but I've had the slight cramps, usually when I lay down, too. My dr. was not concerned. She said if I have any SIGNIFICANT cramping or bleeding, to call right away. And like Soontobe said, this early in the pregnancy, there's nothing they can really do to prevent a miscarriage (my DH confirmed that several times with the dr.) so just keep smiling and expect that it will be fine!

Bekah.. Just wanted to say that everyone is correct with what they have stated =) Also when u have heard the HB then ur chances of a M/C goes down to about 2-5%. With brown blood or spotting that usually indicates "old blood". As long as it is not red, severe or cramping then u should be fine hun.

If ur to worried then I would not have intercourse until u get ur results back which im sure will turn out fine =) Try to rest as much as u can and put ur feet up and make sure that u stay hydrated.
