BTW, I am (unfortunately) in the Chicago area... does anyone know of any services there?
How can I (a lesbian) get pregnant?
August 08, 2007
I know all about different fertility options, and have gone to see a doctor about getting pregnant. She only works with California Cryobank, and they charge $450 a vial for IUI sperm (the only kind she does). She does three inseminations per cycle, so three a month. That costs $1350 a month just for the sperm, not to mention the doctor fees and anything else. My question is, is it possible to order sperm from a sperm bank, possibly cheaper than above, have it delivered at home, and do an insemination with my partner? If so, who would I contact? Are there any cryobanks that ship sperm to a home? Is that more expensive than going through a doctor? Should I try going to a different doctor? Would it be best to have a doctor do it instead of at home? What I am trying to do is find the cheapest way, without finding a guy I know to donate sperm. I dont want it to be anyone I know (for the obvious implications associated with that). I already know how to chart my cycle. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Hi Jamie,
You can use our "find doctor" feature on this site and enter your zip code and you'll be able to find all REs in your area. If any of our users know of someone, please post.
I'd still contact PRS and they may still be able to help you in Chicago or if not, may be able to give you a lead of a center in Chicago who is same-sex friendly.

i'm using california cryobank and the vials for IUI are exspensive so i'm choosing to do artificial insemination at home.the vials for A.R.T. ICI are priced on their website is 250.00 and the price for A.R.T. IUI is 300.00 i had my family doctor to sign a form to have the sperm shipped to me instead of to her office.also another great place to choose is fairfax cryobank in virginia.
my female partner and i used a sperm bank that we are very happy with in spokane,wa. it is called nw andrology and cryo bank and they charge 200 a vial and are very selective when it comes to their donors. you can look them up online. they are also very helpful and can answer most of the questions you have.

There is a small cryobank that specializes in primarily helping same-sex couples and know that they do allow clients to take sperm home with them. They're Pacific Reproductive Services (PRS) with two locations, San Francisco and Pasadena California. Feel free to contact them for more information and am confident they'll be able to help. www.pacrepro.com
