Hot tube, although not studied, may not necessarily be the best for sperm as the heat may disimpair them upon ejaculation...but this is only a thought and may not be true...

I sat in a hot tub about 3 days before I found out I was pregnant. :)
The thing is, if your body temp is supervised, its okay throughout pregnancy. But note how I said supervised. It is said not to because you should not have your core temp about 102 for more than 10-20 minutes (depending on who you ask.. I stick with 10) Most people will climb out before that happens. But, since some don't, and it can cause problems, people are just told not to. I'm a massage therapist, adn I have training in hydrotherapy, and I would put a pregnant woman in a hot tub, but not longer than 10 minute intervals..
Since I knew I could be pregnant when I sat in the hot tub, I sat in for ten minutes, hopped in the pool then sat on the side for ten, and then got back in the hot tub...
However.. once you get to the point where your water has broken.. (obviously late pregnancy) stay out!! :o) Hot tubs are a breeding ground for germs.
And some people say that later in pregnancy, hot tubs are uncomfy for the baby b/c it heats up the amniotic fluid.. it does heat it up, but I stillsay, in my professional opinion, it is fine as long as you keep it to ten minute intervals with sufficient cool down time in between.

Heat on its own is damaging to the sperm and can hence affect male fertility to a certain extent. This impact is however temporary and does not cause permanent damage. Remember that men's testes are outside the body for a reason. The reason being they need to be in a cooler environment to produce healthy sperm. Studies have also shown that sperm quality and count vary in men according to the seasons of the year, with the lowest count in summer.
Hot tubs, bicycling and saunas even wearing tight underwear are probably okay in moderation, but a man with a marginal sperm count might want to pass on these activities while he's trying to conceive since the heat generated during these activities can damage sperm.
The quality of sperm is more affected by heat than the quantity of sperm, both of which are linked to fertility and getting pregnant. Men should avoid frequent use of the hot tub when trying to conceive because the testes are very sensitive to heat, which can damage sperm production. The heat can damage developing sperm which may not be fully mature for several months. Sperm count generally returns to normal level within a week of hot tub exposure.
The damage caused to sperm because of heat also depends upon factors like how hot the water is or how long you stay in the hot water or if the man is involved in any other activities that may affect fertility. Jobs which are performed in the heat can also affect the sperm quality. Combining hot tubs, bicycling, and active outdoor jobs and all combine to create lower than average sperm.
Found this if it helps.....

I missed the part of the question about bd'ing in the hot tub.. I gotta learn to read, really! :)
The biggest thing to worry about bd'ing in the hot tub is the sperm getting washed out of you... ya know? Now.. that's not to say you CAN'T get pregnant with sex in the hot tub/pool... but it definitely lowers the chances vs on dry land :)
