hormone injection

Well I have hit week 25.The doctor advised me since the last complication of a high risk multiple pregnancy that they will talk to me about this hormone injection every week when they see me .I have a singleton pregnancy this time ane with weekly ultrasounds my cervix they say has been looking good .So normally they said it is given between 24-32 weeks .

Can you tell me if their is any known side effects of the hormone they are speaking about ? Where is is given .

And is it worth taking this hormone to speed up the babies growth incase it is born early ?

Not sure which hormone they're talking about,Dexamethasone? This is usually given only twice to be finished within 48hrs and no further, and is given if delivery looks imminent...but I could be wrong about the hormone you're alludin to..

Dexamethasone, in the event of a suspected premature delivery can improved:

pulmonary lung function

diminish the possibility of brain hemorrhage

diminish the possibility of bowel problems

improve neonatal survival

Thanks for the info .As I am in the hospital special pregnancy program every week (this thursday ) I'll ask them the name of it
