High LH, low Progesterone???

I have been seeing and RE for recurrent miscarriages. They have been monitering ovulation. I have been recieving high LH levels but, low progesterone. Consequently, I am not ovulating even though the OPK says I did. I was checked today and it is not PCOS. I have fairly regular periods with spotting before the heavy flow. Whats going on?

In these cases Kristin, you may want to be monitored by your RE using ultrasounds and some sort of ovarian stimulation, such as clomid and/or injectable gonadotropins, then ovulation can truly be confirmed and hopefully a pregnancy soon achieved...

This what you're saying may be a "thin" PCOS patient phenotype in which elevations of LH create this type of presentation...but the treatment should be the same

Ok, thanks. It sounds like Clomid produces nice results. Could this help with the miscarrying as well, since no cause was found at this time?

Hi Kristin, some pcos patients do have their baseline LH elevated so do get + OPK all the time and the progesterone is low because ur not actually ovulating. Definately the meds Dr Q says will help ya. Clomid helps ovulate well and helps having good progesterone levels. Besides this miscarriage rates has nothing to do with clomid. Good Luck to ya!

Great, thanks. I am waiting for a call back from my RE. I hope he suggest the Clomid. I am tired of waiting for something to happen as I am sure most of you understand.

REs are really great knowledgeble ppl, but sometimes they need that push from you..Infact Im sure the more u talk to him abt these things and ask questions, the more he would be willing to help u and educate u abt the whole process. Good luck and hope it all works for ya keep us posted.

Ok. I went I got a call back from the RE office. THey said that I did ovulate but, it still did not show anything on the US. How can that be? THey were also very persistent about asking me if I had intercourse during the ovulation time, which I did. Why would they be asking that. I only ovulated 4 days ago so I know they are not asking about pregnancy....whats going on?

Unless the endometrium looks progesterone(ized), then many times there is no Corpus luteum to see, and difficult to diagnose ovulation after the fact...a Progesterone >5ng/mL would give this diagnosis...
