Yes. I'm 32, TTC for 2 years and just made the decision to start IVF only to find out Day 3 FSH was 11. I think my antral follicle count was 15. I was too freaked out to do the clomid challenge test this cycle and am very scared and mad and sad.

How high is high? Mine is 11, E2 was normal, antral follie count was 20 and my RE at UofU isn't worried at all. Did Clomid for three cycles and had 2 eggs mature each time with a lining of 8,9 and 9 all good.

I have a friend with FSH of 32 at the age of 36 and she is pregnant, au naturale with her 2 right now. High FSH is NOT a death sentence.

Thanks for the positive thoughts, Nett. They sure make it sound like a death sentence though and are already talking donor eggs. I guess they are just trying to prepare me for the worst, in case my clomid challenge test results are bad.

You are welcome. I have been there, and I know what it feels like. I told my new RE that if he ever once said Advanced Maternal Age I would advance my maternal elsewhere. :)

I would love to know your story and KUP on your Clomid Challenge. BE SURE they check your lining!:)

If your cycle and E2 levels are normal, your bleed is good and you know you O well, then maybe your eggs are not the issue at all. How is your progesterone? BTW, I have been taking Vitex to maybe help lower that FSH a bit, I plan on having another CD3 draw next cycle to see where it is, just out of curiosity :). Good Luck!

Hi there,

I’m sorry that I’m just now replying again. Yes. I felt like I was sent to sentence too. My FSH is 13.7. This is my first month on Clomid. BTW – What is the Clomid Challenge? I keep hearing this, but have no idea. Should this have been done before me starting Clomid? Another thing I keep hearing is you should not take Clomid if you have high FSH. Anyone knows if that is a true statement.

Anyway – On Clomid I produced 2 mature follicles, and my uterus lining was a 14. I pray my IUI works. Is E2 – estrogen? If so, my E2 is good.

Take care,

The purpose of the clomid challenge test is to compare your Day 3 and Day 10 FSH levels. You take clomid days 5-9 and ideally your FSH is less on D10 than D3. I'm surprised they didn't test your D10 during that cycle. I'm pretty sure E2 is estradiol, which is essentially a form of estrogen. I have never heard not to take clomid with high FSH.

I've done a few cycles with letrozole and a few with FSH & lupron, 3 IUIs total. My follicle response was so-so, in my opinion. Always BFN, plus I'd usually get a cyst that would stick around for a month or two. I am also on dostinex for high prolactin levels. My lining seems fine but I'm not sure what my progesterone levels are.

Good luck!

Hi Strangebird,

I found out that my RE's office screwed up last month, and did not test my FSH on day 10. My RE was very upset with the nurses too.

I see that we are posting on 2 different areas.

How are you doing?

Hey Babymaking2 - You should check out the FertileThoughts forum, there is a special forum just for those diagnosed with High FSH. Reading their stories made me feel so much better (and angrier with my ex-doctor!) Check it out: www.fertilethoughts.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=279.

That's really crummy they forgot to test your D10. Do you know if your doctor has a cutoff value for FSH? I am really hoping the other local IVF clinic will work with me but my consult is not until next Saturday. The waiting just kills me! 2.5 years of WAITING! All this waiting and you start to question why you wanted a little monster in the first place :-)

Hi hjp - Welcome!!!!

No. Don't prepare for the worst! I'm 36 and my highest FSH was 20. My RE keeps telling me that my age is on my side. So…If you are still in your 20s you still have hope. What you need to find is a FSH friendly RE that is willing to work with you. Also check out www.fertilethoughts.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=279. This is a great site to get advice and took make friends that have high HSH too. I’m a member on there with the same user name. I hope you join us!!!
