Hey Girls, having a little anxiety....

July 19, 2008

for some reason, I am starting to get REALLY scared and having anxiety pretty bad about my c-section on Tuesday. I can't pin point what the heck I am so scared of but have a terrible feeling of dread. I should be very excited and happy that little Grady is only 3 days away. I don't know what is going on! Maybe I am just scared of the fact that this is big change for my family and now there will be 2 kids to worry about. Just needed to vent. Thanks for listening.....

Hey hun..I had a c-section 6 years ago now and am also having one with this pregnancy.. I PROMISE!!!! it will be ok..it was really really fast you'll get the needle in your back to frezze..it feels only like a bee sting and is kinda hot but in less then 10 sec's your frozen and can't feel it..from the time i got the needle and cut and stiches and got to hold Carleigh it was less then 15 mins..so really fast..and you wont feel athing..the recovery is not as bad as you hear you can't do any big lifty for about 5 weeks but by day 7 you should be doing very well by day 14 feeling wonderful..

i had a harder time cuz I got an infection..but that almost never happens..and even then it was not so bad.

the hardest things was stairs dont do to many for the first few days or weeks!

your family will change but it will be totaly and utterly amazing! I am so happy for you and can't wait to see pics :)and I am hear if you need to talk before the big day..I was scared to..I went in to the operating room crying like a big baby..but everyone made me so comfertable and my huby held my hand the whole time.

I am not unscared to do it angain cuz I am a baby..but i would be WAY more scared the vaginal way.and 15 of scared for a life time of joy is SO worth it

Hey JFields..

I had an elected c section 2.6 years ago.. I went in for U/S and the OB was like we will deliver next week.. I had not dialated and the baby was not even in position because I was delivering early.. so this is my experience...

I picked first thing in the morning. My DH got into scrubs and I got an IV.. also they shave you down below I was not prepared for that.. and after all that was done, the aniestieologist(sp??) came in and explained the spinal. Like an epidural only in a different space in the spine. And I was taken to the OR and DH waitED outside the OR as I got the spinal and with in minutes could not feel anything.. you are on the operating table and kinda tilted a bit onto your side.. and thats how you stay.. then your DH will come in and sit at your head.. you do not see anything but feel lots of tugging - but no pain, I got some neck pain and thats normal.. also if you feel nausea they adjust the meds.. then the baby was out in 20 mintes.. and then they take another 30 minutes to sew you back up..

Revovery- I was in for 3 hours.. the pain was not bad, but I kept asking for more pain meds I wanted to stay ahead of the game.. I was given morphine the first day.. after I was moved into a reg room ( I had to be able to lift my legs) I rested and still felt tired but good.

I got up out of bed that night and had to pee in front of the nurses so they could take my cathetra out.. I was in the hospital for 5 days.. and when I got home I was sore, but took my vicotin for about 2 or 3 days then was fine. Good Luck, I am here if you have more questions! I will tell you I had a wonderful experience and would not deliver any other way... I am excited to hopefully get preggo again, and will definately ask for another section.

JFields,

I understand why you are so nervous about your C-section. Try not to worry! I know that's easier said than done, but everything will be fine :) My sister had 2 C-Sections. The first one planned ( my niece was breech) and the second one- just this past September was an Emergency C-Sect. My sister says the same thing Caryn said- she would not deliver any other way again! She was sore for a few days- but recovered pretty quickly.

WIshing you the best!

Thanks Girls! I also had a c-section with my first so I know how it will go and I agree that I wouldn't want to do it any other way but this way but I am still extremely nervous. To be honest with you, I am not sure that I am even nervous about the surgery itself. Its so funny how you wait this very long time to get pregnant and then this 9 months to get here and now I am scared. I guess that I am just being a big baby. Must be my hormones!

Hey honey! I have no experience with having 2 kids or a c0section, but I can say that I had and still do have the anxiety about the "big" change. It is huge and you can't turn back now! LOL! Just know that some how it will be ok. It may be super stressful in the beginning, but by 2 weeks you won't remember life without the 2 of them together! :) I wish you many happy thoughts for your c-section and the beginning of your new family of 4! Hugs!

hormones are WONDERFUL! ha ha ha ha....

That and I'm sure the reality of "this is it- we're having a baby!" is hitting FULL FORCE now! It's went from being a dream to being real!

Good luck! Keep us posted!

Thanks to all of you! You are all right by saying that it is just the reality of this baby is just about here! We woke up this morning and realized that within 48 hours, he will be here and yes, I started freaking out again. I could not be ready for him to come, just scary.

Fran-you are right, within 2 weeks, it will all be o.k. And no, can't turn back but I won't say that I haven't had that thought :)

Hey melissa- its a requirement in my hospital to be able to move the legs to be transferred into a regular room.. also they make you get up and walk to prevent blood clots in the legs..

JFields.. Everything is gonna go fine and work out, its so exciting and frightening to bring a baby into the world, after all he will depend on you for everything, and as a moms its an instinct to to protect and care for the baby, I remember being scared too, thinking he is so safe inside me and when he gets out all will change.. and in those last 24 hours before I delivered, I was like OMG I can't do this! But you can! And everything is gonna be great! Can't wait to see pictures of baby Grady!!

July 20, 2008

thats a good requirement..we didn't have that here..cuz I had a private room and for sure could not move to the next day

hope your having a grea weekend
