Hello Dr. Q and Ladies,

I have been a member of FT for a little over a year now. I joined after an early miscarriage (6 weeks), and my DH and I have been trying ever since (14 months). Well, about two weeks ago I got my first super faint BFP!!

I am a little nervous about this pregnancy, so I asked my doctor for a blood test to measure hcg and progesterone levels. My best guess is that I was 5w - 5w3d when my blood was drawn last Monday.

My doctor told me that my hcg levels was 41,100 and my progesterone level was 29.1. He said the numbers were high, but based on what I have read, the hcg level seems way high! Are these normal numbers? Is it possible that my doctor is measuring hcg with some other unit? Any information/thoughts would be much appreciated!

Congratulations shlepper!!!

hCG numbers are very variable, and if you first noticed a BFP about 2 wks ago, this value is pretty normal..

I called my doctor today because the numbers just didn't feel right. It turns out there was a lab error. My real hcg level for 5 weeks was 953--more like what I expected!

Hey Holly! I had planned to wait until my first ultrasound (scheduled for july 6) before posting. I didn't want to jinx anything, you know? After I received those hcg results, I just had to ask Dr. Q! I am so excited, but am nervous about miscarrying again. I have been pretty positive though...the timing for this seems so perfect. How are you doing? How many dpo are you now?

I am 5dpo right now. I have to have surgery though to remove a big cyst from inside my ovary:( So if I don't get pregnant this cycle (which I am fairly certain I won't) then I will do surgery right after I get AF. Then I will start on Clomid in August. Its so frustrating.

I am doing well though. Hanging in there. Congrats to you!! I can't wait to see how your journey this time goes! I am sure all will be just fine. Stay positive and if you need anything - even just a confidence boost - you know where to find me!!!!

Thanks so much Holly! I may take you up on that offer :).

I am glad to hear that you will be able to start ttc immediately after the surgeries! I feel terrible for the woment that have to wait several months before they can try again. I will also be looking forward to hearing how YOUR journey goes. I have a feeling that all will be well after they cyst is removed and your tube is cleared. It seems very likely that the cyst was causing the problems during your other pregnancies. Think positive...I know it will happen!

Take care!!
