Has anyone had a hard time taking off work for fertility doctor appointments

My new job is very demanding. I do payroll for a large company and certain things have to be done by a certain time. When I scheduled baseline U/S and sonohystogram the only available times were 9-10am. It was difficult getting away for my appt. I was late because I got caught up at work. RE's office was so cool about it, but I am worried if I need to start IUI cycles in the future, they have to be done on certain days of my cycle and RE office is open same hours I work. I don't want to lose my job, but TTC is also very important to me. Any suggestions?

Shelly is your RE the only clinic near you? Perhaps you can fin one with earlier and later hours. My RE office opens at 6am

Mmmm..Shelly, that's kind of tricky. I agree with Abby about checking with an RE that may be closer to you with earlier hours. My RE's office opens up at 7am, however, some of their testing is done at "certain hours" so it's impossible not to miss a couple of hours of work. Ummmm...let's see......mmmmm..Ok, if you have your heart set on staying with this clinic, than maybe you can look into possibly completing some of your work ahead of time??

I usually work ahead so certain tasks can be completed before stepping out to my fertility appointments. However, I know that will be difficult since there are certain jobs where you don't have the option of working ahead.

Do they have a backup for you at work(someone who can complete certain tasks for you if for some reason you could not come into work for an illness, etc?)

Sounds like you gotta lot of "coordinating" to do. I know the feeling since I will be doing IVF in Jan which take way more time than IUI...and there are going to be a lot of days that I need to take off. I too have a demanding job where certain tasks need to be completed by a specific deadline. Phew!! I'm pretty sure something is going to work out for you.

Abby, Casey, is looking very adorable. Hope all is going well with you.

Is it possible that you are able to change your hours at work? I specifically change to a 9:30-6 schedule so I can do most of my bloodwork for IUI cycles in the morning around 7:30 am..

Hey, by the way,,,I thought you were coming to chill with me in Texas. Did ya'll change your mind about moving to Austin??

There is another clinic in town that opens at 6:30am but I really like RE. Her office does not open until 8AM though. I am going to a seminar on the 18th to talk to the other clinic and ask if they can help with scheduling issue. Will schedule lap this week for February, but no other appts except for Nov 16. So think we should be ok for a while. Taking a break from TTC until lap...It feels great not stressing about all the crap. We decided not to move to TX, but you are always welcome to come to LV and visit!

I know that everything will work out for you. And yes, I know what you mean about feeling good taking a Break from TTC since we are on one ourselves until Jan or Feb of next year when we will be starting IVF. It feels good not to POAS, or Chart, or take meds, etc..etc..
