Give it to me in a nutshell please....

Ok here's how my cycles are and how they "flow". On average my cycles are 36 days. I usually have a period between 33-36 days. I only had 1 cycle in which it was 41 days.I have NEVER had a period 28 days. My blood flow has never been abnormally light or abnormally heavy. Always within the normal flow range. Sometimes i will get cramps and sometimes i won't. I have NEVER had spotting between periods and have NEVER gone over 41 days in length.

Do u think in a nutshell that i am ovulating regulary given my history? I have also had 2 pregnancies and 2 healthykids.

Sounds to me like you are ovulating regularly Jilly. Your cycles sound very similar to mine. Good Luck.

Okay, here goes,

You have ovaries that are predisposed to polycystic ovarian syndrome. If you gained 10lbs, you may find that instead of 41 days, your periods stretch out to 60 days, and likewise if you lose 10lbs, you may find that your periods would be shorter, say 30 days. Because of this, there are some egg quality issues. You are ovulating it just takes sometimes 18-20 days for you to ovulate. In general, when it takes that long then the egg is not very good...some clomid would help...

Dr Eva, what indicates to you that ovaries are predisposed to PCOS. My cycles mirror Jilly's, while uss showed cysts on ovaries all tests came back negative to PCOS. If the egg is not going to be a good one how will clomid help, as my consultant told me that the clomid does not mature the egg so that it would be healthy one.

I'm all confused now, would appreciate clarification. Many thanks.

Suzi u just asked a question i was asking after i saw the answers.. How can clomid help mature an egg? i thought Clomid was just to help ovulate. Im a little confused and scared now that i might not be producing quality eggs.

Awwww Jilly Dr Eva has gone now, and I am sooooo confused. Whats your thoughts??

Im scared frankly. I have had 2 healthy uneventful pregnancies and my cycles have always been on the longer side. But baffles me that i might be predisposed to PCOS. I am a larger woman but it never stopped me from conceiving my last baby.

Me too. I stopped taking clomid this month to minimise multiples but I would have continued with it if I thought that it would mature the eggs into healthy ones as I have had one miscarriage at 8 weeks and one Edwards syndrome at 12 weeks. Perhaps we should post another for Dr Q to clarify for us.

i agree. Im confused and worried now. Dr Q told me that 36 days was average but on the longer side of average... nothing about my eggs having bad quality.

Jilly, as it was your question initially do you want to post about clomid and mature eggs or shall I?

How come your on clomid suzi?

U go ahead Suzi, u will probably word it alot better than i as i have never been on clomid or know exactly how it works other then stimulating ovulation.

After my 2nd miscarriage my dr just thought that it would boost my eggs. At the time I did not clarify what "boost" meant. I think that after 2 letdowns and due to my age 39 she wanted to help me get pregnant quickly, however uss showed 3 follies last month and dh and I freaked a bit at the thought of multiples so we decided to stop it this month.

I doubt I will word it better, but I'll give it a go. Keep an eye out for it and add to it for clarification.

oh ok.. im almost 27 so im really hoping i will not have to be on any sort of clomid. I always thought my eggs were good quality.
