My RE is going to put me on fermara from next cycle. I have read that fermara causes serious birth defects. and it is not to be taken by a woman who is trying to get pregnant. is it true? i m very worried after reading all this.

Hi Focut,

I and many REs believe it is very safe, and wrote extensively on it on this site, simply search for it and you'll get the history as to why you see so much press and wouldn't worry too much about it.

Thank you so much...!! i searched this site for your comments on femara and they were very informative.

Just wanted to know the success rate of femara with IUI. I was on clomid for 4 months (no iui) but it didnt work.

I just published an article in Fertility and Sterility saying that Femara taken after Clomid failures can still lead to some success, but truly also consider IUI. However, an even better bet would be to consider injectable medications also.

i was on clomid for 4 months, and i have ovulated all four times, but very late (between day 19 to 21).

Is there any chance that I ll ovulate earlier on femara which I ll take from next cycle.

today is day 36 of clomid (4th) 50 mg cycle. No period. not pregnant.

would femara make me ovulate earlier than clomid?

Femara may help you to ovulate a little better than Clomid and possibly a little earlier. What is very good to make you ovulate are injectable gonadotropins given by an RE. Either is Ok, one is just much better than the other.

Hi Focut,

I know it is kind of confusing, but day 1 is when full flow starts. So if it starts at 10 pm, that's still day 1. If it starts at 2am, then that's day 1. We don't have to be so strict, as it truly doesn't have to be, but by definition, this is how it goes. Day 3 would then be the 3rd day after
