endometrium lining thickness for implantation

DR Q and Ladies~

I have my first IUI Sunday.. Yeah!! I am on CD 12 today.. 1 DPIUI... when I went in for my CD9 ultrasound, the technician noted my endometruim lining was only 4.5 mm.. but also indicated it did have 3 layers or striped to it.. which she said was good.

My question is, does the lining continue to thicken as I go thru this cycle.. I am concerned that if implantation should occur.. will my lining had gotten thicker..

Also what meds are out there to help this while in the 2WW ??

Thank you

PS- I used clomid (50MG) this month- CD 3-7- I know there are schools of thought out there that Clomid cause this thinning..

At my baseline U/S on CD3 my lining measured 3.8mm

I had 11 total follies, 2 were mature at the time of trigger

thanks :)

PS- If my lining is too thin to even hold a pregnancy, then why the heck would the RE go forward with IUI..

Is the precense of the lining being trilaminar better than the actual thickness??

This was our only chance to do IUI.. I am rather upset--- please shed some light on this

Lining appears to thin at that time CD9, with an IUI done CD12, the triple line is excellent but worried about thickness, as if not >7mm, pregnancy rates can be diminished...a side effect of clomid may be to not thicken the lining, and the lining is only good upto the point where the IUI was done

Hang in there Caryn, and talk to your doc about other possible alternatives to Clomid, such as letrozole or Tamoxifen if you desire pills

So basically DR Q this cycle is most likely a bust ... if my lining is < 7mm...

I put a call into the RE.. this is very dissapointing, guess no point in getting my hopes up this month..

thanks

Did they ever give you estrogen to help the lining? Sorry to hear about this, Caryn. I don't understand why they did the iui if lining wasnt good enough. I'd probably call your doc and question that.

Good luck, sweetie!

Caryn- I had thin lining when I was being monitored on the injectables- I got pregnant the first try- however when I went in on CD 9 they added a vaginal estrogen 2 times per day- and when I went back to the doc the following day- the lining was almost ready as were the follies for trigger.

Maybe- next time you could ask for that for a few days earlier- and get it going to get a nice thick lining before BD or IUI again- whichever ends up working out for you.

Hope this helps ;)

Thanks, I was not offered anything.. after the nurse did my lining on CD 9,... she told me what it was.. I got my call later that night saying my Estrdial levels were over 900 and to get ready to trigger.. I totally forgot to ask about the lining.. So I took nothing..

I hear what you are saying, but its not my job to tell the RE or nurse what I think they dhoud be prescribing for me.. if it was not for this site I wouln's a clue about lining thickness.. I did put a call in to them and waiting to hear back, as I am going to give them a piece of my mind...

Unfortunately for us, IUI cannot be done unless my cycle falls on a weekend.. due to DH work and travel schedule.. which for us will not be until November... Urrggh.. and now DH has Lyme Disease which I know that will effect his sperm because of the meds and how sick he is.. It seems like I am never going to have a baby.. It reminds me how much of a blessing my son is...
