I recently had a transabdominal examination (ultrasound). The results showed a endometrium that measured 2.2 mm. in thickness. My doctors says normal for post-menopausal women is .5. she wants to do a d&c. The info I have found on the net says post-menopausal uterline linings average 0-5 mm. for normal. Do I need the D&C??

Please make sure first of all the it's 2.2mm and not 2.2cm in thickness...
You're correct, there is a very low likelyhood of endometrial cancer with a lining less than 5mm in a post-menopausal woman...
However, an ultrasound only gives risk, and not diagnostic as a D&C is diagnostic for this...Is the D&C essential...you can talk to your doc that you are willing to undergo the minimal risk of having Cancer and not undergo D&C and that's ok so long as you both understand...
