Egg-white cervical mucus

Hello again, Dr. Q! :-) Forgive me for asking too many questions (hehe!). I finally saw an egg-white CM this morning, felt it and it stretched for up to 2 inches. But at around this time, my hubby and I were getting ready to do our "baby dance" and I am just wondering if that stretchy clear mucus I saw was just a fluid that I produce when I get aroused. I have a hard time writing this question because it sounds "vulgar"..hehe! But I'm sure you are used to hear these things from your patients. So my question is--could that stretchy egg-white looking mucus be the real thing? Or could it just be me lubricating in response to--you know what I mean? (Gosh! I don't like to share this here...haha!) Thanks again!!

a great spinbarkeit (sp?) would mean that it stretches about 8or more cm. Don't worry about these types of questions, we're here to answer all relevant questions, just like this one. And the best thing about this...is that it's all anonymous and everyone gets to learn.

I would recheck later on today (just to make sure we're not confusing fluids) and if still stretchy, then things are looking great!

My OPK today is still negative, and I just rechecked my CM and it's still stretchy and watery looking (clear), but I'm thinking now that this might be my husband's and not mine. My cervix still feels the same, though (firm and low...I can reach it easily). How long does the egg-white mucus usually stay? Thanks again!

It usually stays until you ovulate, in which case the Progesterone changes its consistency...Your welcome!

Hi Jess,

That's correct, once you ovulate, the Progesterone that's created will change the consistency of the cm.
