Early ovulation: letrozole vs. injectibles

September 27, 2007

I am 37, had a successful pregnancy after ovulation induction using Lupron, FSH, HCG process in 2005. Before that, we had tried for 1 year naturally. One Chlomid cycle did not work. After my first baby, we have been unable to conceive for the past 14 months, and just completed a cycle with oral Letrozole, got as far as the day 9 FSH shot and on day 12, I had already ovulated, before the trigger shot. If early ovulation is my issue, would you recommend going back to the full injection cycle, using Lupron to delay ovulation? We do not want to do IVF, and my periods are like clockwork every 27 days. My concern is that the less intrusive therapies are not addressing early ovulation, and no one has tested me for that. Thank you.

Hi Cindi,

Lupron will delay ovulation and would be Ok, also an earlier ultrasound would help time the follicle and can be caught before it ovulates...either is fine and may be wise to simply use gonadotropin injections for stimulation
