Well ladies I just thought I would keep everyone posted on my 21 week check up. Babies are doing great, they read me my fetal assessment results and were very impressed!! They said both babies are looking great! My iron levels have went up considerably from last time so that is good. I guess all that spinach is paying off...and the slow FE tablets lol!!! I have gained 18 lbs so far...wowzers I know!! lol Doc was very pleased with this though so that is good. I thought it was high but she said no. Babies heartbeats were 144 and 160...what do you think?
My doctor has now cut me off of work. I have been getting really sore backs from sitting 9.5 hours per day so I am officially off of work until the babies come and then after that I get my full year of maternity leave. Seems weird to be done! I think I will miss it. I just hope that being at home so early doesnt make my pregnancy feel like it is taking forever. So, all in all things are looking great. We are leaving on Saturday for a week long trip down to the states so that should be fun! I am looking forward to DH and me time!!

Great news on the babes...
and how happy I am that you are now off from work. I don't think it will make your pregnancy seem any longer...you will find things to do to stay busy!
And wow, a year long maternity leave! That's fabulous. I get 12 weeks, mostly unpaid. lol. I'm still looking forward to it though!
Have fun on your trip!!!

Aching I am currently on what is called a medical leave. In this leave you get 15 weeks paid at 55% of your gross salary. Once the babies are born then I am entitled to 52 week of paid maternity leave. The first 17 weeks are at 93% of my gross wage and the rest is at 55% just like the medical leave. I am lucky because I am going to be off for like 16 months and get paid throught the entire time. The DH and I figured out that with the price of gas and my union dues and all that fun stuff that with staying at home and making 55% of my gross wage that I will be making about the same as I would be full-time. Pretty sad isnt it! So far my first day off was great. I slept in, did some light house work, went for a walk, made lunch and am now starting supper, took a nap lol!!! I think I could get used to this!!! At least now I will be able to get my babies rooms ready!
Liane, my husband was telling me that in Canada everyone gets 1 year of maternity leave due to the decreased population there as an insentive to have more children. Is this true? That would be so amazing. I will only get 6 weeks off, and that is without pay :( My job sucks in that department :) He also mentioned that you can split part of that time with your husband or a close family member and still get paid? Fill me in :)
Yes Maggie it is kind of an incentive for us to have more children I guess!! Of the year long maternity leave you are entitled to 17 weeks of maternity which only the mother can take and then another 35 weeks or parental leave of which either parent can take. The entire time you get paid 55% no matter what. Some jobs like mine, give you a top up for the entire maternity part of sometimes up to 100% of your gross wage...mine is to 93% but it is still great!!
