Dr Q...opinion please! Semen analysis results

Ok, my doctor said that there is no problem with my hubbys S/A and that his morphology was a "little" low but it would not pose a problem. I was fine with that. I called this morning to get a copy of the results and his morphology is 1%! Normal is over 14% My doc says that this is not a problem because his count was so high. (about 150 million per ejaculate) but still 1% morphology!? Do I need to take his advice and not worry? He wants us to keep trying on our own until October. I just think that is devastatingly low. To me, those results have IVF or IUI written all over it.

There is truth to what your doc is saying...usually doc's want to see a morphology >4%, but this is considering about an average sperm count (about 40Million)...now 1% of 150Million gives almost the same amount of the former...We also have to consider having another done at least 2 1/2 months apart to verify that this is a true result..

However, if you do not get pregnant on your own, the IVF+ICSI would be recommendable...

Do you think the chances of us coneiving on our own are good? My tests have checked out fine. We just don't have the money for treatments at this point in our lives. Is there anything we can do to improve morphology? He is already taking Fertilaid for men and has been on it for 3 months. Should I ask my doctor to have him do another in a few months? He

didn't mention having a repeat done. He just said if we are not pregnant by October to come back to see him.

Thanks galaa, I'll have to look into pycnogenol. Hubby is taking Fertilaid also, I wonder if they will interact in anyway. If you read what Dr Q wrote above about the 4% per 40 million vs 1% oer 153 million, it makes it sound a little bit better. It's still disheartening though. oh, well at least we know.
