Dr. Q is this ok in the Omega 3?

April 02, 2008

I talked with my doctor and he said I could start taking these, but then someone mentioned to see what fish is in there to make sure its not to high in mercury. So I figured I would post to you to make sure this is safe.

**** Bump for Dr. Q ****

Hey Jolene, my fish oil supplement (by Spectrum) has a little statement on the side saying, "3rd party purity tested to ensure PCBs, dioxins, mercury, lead, and other contaminants are below detectable limits." Also, if you google mercury and fish oil, you'll find info about how fish oils are better than fish and most of the commercial brands that were tested have very low mercury levels. (But I bought the one with the little statment on it just to be sure!- I got it at a local health food shop.)

Of course, low mercury fish like wild caught alaskan salmon and chunk light (not white) tuna are still great to eat while pg too! (Just don't over do it.)

Thanks sweetie!

Where did you get your Omega 3s at? I was gonna get mine from the Vitamin Shoppe. Im sure its fine but im just checking.

I know Mackerel has lots of mercury in it and is said not to eat, but its not like you are eating the whole fish...haha, you know?

So do you think its fine.

Here is the link to the ones im looking at!

Thanks!!!!

I got mine at a local health shop here in the Northwest called New Seasons. On the label it says, Spectrum Essentials. Do you guys have a Whole Foods or something like that? Oh, I just checked drugstore.com (love it) and this is the exact one I have...

It specifically says, "wild caught, small fish."

There is also a product called, Mommy's Bliss for pg women, but it's more expensive and I think you probably pay for the fact that it's marketed towards pg ladies.

I crave junk food but I do know I LOVE LOVE LOVE celery while not preggo and it looked good a minute ago, and baby carrots and ranch...mmm, and some more stuff. Then im gonna go by the vitamin shoppe and get those vitamins.

April 02, 2008

Thanks sweetie, and yeah def getting some more veggies, even though im drinking V8 every morning, or trying to, just started this morning :)

I was gonna get the V8 fusion that gives you all the servings of fruits and veggies you need in 1 day, and if I can chug a cup of that, I will be happy with myself. Then ontop of that for snacks will eat carrots and ranch and celery and peanut butter or ranch and a few other things...mmm.

I hope you are doing great sweetie!!!!

April 02, 2008

Thanks, yeah, I'm doing good. I'm 11dpo today and trying to get through these last few days. I'm not going to test until I miss AF or if my temp is up after 13dpo. My temps have been higher than usual by a little this month... but I'm prepared for a negative. Af is due Saturday- the same day I'm going to my friend's baby shower. Ah well. I just hope AF doesn't show up during the party. Man, that would be rough.

April 02, 2008

Aww sweetie I pray you get a BFP, and going to the babyshower you are pregnant :)

LOADS of BFP dust and high high temps!!!!

Hi Jolene,

Just make sure of purity as I can't vouch for others...

As you know, but will take a little time, FertilityTies is presently formulating Prenatal Vitamins and Fertility Supplements for Men and Women that are strictly under the supervision of REs and Urologists specializing in Fertility...This may be a few months before we launch this, but hope everyone enjoys them :)

April 02, 2008

Hey Jolene, havent gone thru the med u mentioned, but if u have any doubts on the purity, etc, its best to start taking the prenatals ur Dr Rx. They definately know more than what we do and u can trust them more than what is there on the internet and hear say. They regularly Rx these to the preggo women, I would trust ur Drs word. Also, there is always a reason why OTC are cheaper than branded ones. Hope I didnt confuse you more, but just take one pill that has them all :)

April 02, 2008

Oh and yeah rather than taking the regular ones, see if its especially Rxd for preggo women, that way u know for sure 200% its safe, may be a lil more expensive, but worth the peace of mind and the benefits it offers :) Good luck

Thanks Dr. Q and cant wait for yall to do the vitamins. I dont know what to do about the Omega 3s with DHA and EPA that I have found at the vitamin shoppe. My doctor said they were fine, but I was just wondering if the fish in them is safe? I just cant stomach the ones that they prescribed for me.

Hope, see I have heard different things about prescribed and non. I have done research as well, and lots have the exact same stuff on the back of the bottle, minus the RX cost. Lots of doctors say its a waste of money and some say its not. Its soo hard to know what to do...haha.

I faxed my doctor the over the counter ones im now taking since the PrimaCare Ones made me sick and I really dont feel they have hardly anything that others have in them. So anyways I faxed them whats all in the over the counter ones, and then faxed them whats in these Omega 3s from the Vitaminshoppe, and they said great idea and good to go. So I wouldnt think they would stear me in the wrong direction.

I just cant find what ingredients are in the PrimaCare Ones, like what fish they use...haha.

So in other words Dr. Q are you saying its safe or not safe to take those with those fish in them??

Thanks!
