Dr. Q-Clomid, or other feritlity meds and 37!!!

Clomid is ok to take when you're ovulating if ttc >1yr...There are stronger meds such as injectable gonadotropins which are recommended even more after the age of 35, and may be considered a better place to start...Progesterone levels are controversial..

i think you should totally skip the clomid - go right for the good stuff (injectables!!!) i know you said that you cant/wont do the injecting thing but they are sooooo teeny tiny you wouldnt even know that your DH did it..... sometimes i would ask if he was gonna do it even tho he already did :)

I was only 32 and didnt even want to mess with the clomid, wanted to bring out the big guns right away! LOL!

So glad you are trying again but seriously i dont think that your doc will want to put you on clomid, he will want you to start bigger.... YEAH!!!

I hate shots ladies and thinking that would just be doing the IVF. I hate hate shots....the dh is not happy about that. Why shots????The only problem with that also the risk of more babies...I'm so short and just could handle that. The dh would to the shots on me anyway. He doesn't like needles....oh well. I'm talking about mths down the road....could even be next year when I might might want to try again....I really don't know now.

What is the risk of having more than one follicle with these shots?

you gotta go thru many more shots with the IVF bebe! With an IUI we went thru 1 teeny shot with little amount of hormones for about 8-10 days then an intermuscular shot but with IVF its much more shots.

They monitor you very closely with IUI and IVF so they know how many follies you have that are mature so you wouldnt end up with 5 or 6 babies and even if you did they give you the option of selective reduction if you feel you would want to do that.

They inject something into the heart of a couple of the babies to kill them :(

But with some it is a health thing and is very much necessary.

I had a lot of follies but some people only make 1.

they give you an amount and then depending on how good or not so good you respond they adjust it accordingly.

you can make alot of follies w/ clomid too, can't you? Angel, is it possible for you to get someone to do the shots for you that's a nurse?

how much are they starting you on? Im starting on 300 of the follistim and the medipour - i forget how much of that but its in little vials and just inject the whole vial. I cant believe that they would start you on much more than 300 - 350 since you got so many follies on the IUI.

well she said it was going to be way more than last time. I was on 225 then, so I am a little scared

Thank you Chels and Sara and Dr. Q. God does getting older suck or what!!!! Right now starting on meds is just an idea but it is something that is mths and mths away from us. We don't even know if taking out his undescended testicle will work on his sperm count and FSH levels. The dr's will not even consider IVF for us. So if the surgery doesn't work for the dh our ttc is over and that is ok. Sad but ok. I just want the dh's risk of cancer to be lower with removing this testicle. Plus we still have to do a DNA fragmentation on his sperm so he could be making good amount of sperm but if the DNA isn't good what else can you do. Right now even thinking about meds and injections is way to far for me.
