I have a question. Its not for me, but its about someone who is so close to my heart, my cousin!

She is 37 years old, and has a daughter who is a little over 3 now. Well her and her husband are wanting to have another baby, because they dont want there little girl, not to have a sibling. About 1 year and half ago, maybe a little longer, they got pregnant, and at 4 months had to get the amniosentisis (sp) shot, to check for down syndrome and what not. Well bad news was the baby had very severe down syndrome, and shortly after lost the baby...it was very sad!!

They are wanting to try again and I just want to know what you would suggest on this. What are the chances of it happening again?? What are the chances of having a healthy pregnancy and healthy baby?

I can only imagine how she feels, for im having a hard time conceiving.

It took them 6 years before they got pregnant with their daughter, but it finally happened.

Any advice would be nice please, and what advice would you give them if they were your patient??

Thank you so much, and anyone else can respond to this too please, its someone so dear to my heart, and I want to be there for her!!

Hi Jolene....I could be wrong but I had that same scare when I was pregnant with my son and I asked about having the test done with my next pregnancy and the doctor told me that every pregancy is different and that chances are that it would not happen again. Althought I am 5 years younger than your cousin, I would think that he meant that for everyone. Hope this helps. And good luck to you! Hope we hear good news from you very soon!

Thats what she said too. The doc said if it happened that time, good chances are it wouldnt happen again, and he wants to them to try. I told her I know I would def. try again, I mean it would always be in the back of my head, what if we would have tried, what if it would have been healthy.

I know it was horrible when they found out that the baby had severe downsyndrome, and then didnt make it, and it was a boy...what they wanted!!

I just soo hope and pray that it works out for them, I hope everyone will keep her in mind too...thank you!!
