I know that after thawing the embryos can lose cells or stall. If they did not have any fragmentation when they were frozen can fragmentation occur during the thawing process? Is assisted hatching done on the embryos for FET? Is that why some RE's use medrol?

Hi Kan,

Fragmentation can occur at any point and many REs like to perform assisted hatching on frozen embryos

Medrol is used by some for a variety of reasons, but not necessarily for this scenario

KAN-So why do doctors like to perform assited hatching on frozen embryos. Have you read that there is a lower success rate without it?

Some say it leads to a lower implantation rate if the embryo isn't perfect.

Hey TTC, my DR is going to use assisted hatching for our FET. He advised that the freezing process can sometimes make the shell thicker and that is why they do the AH.
