Does clomid act to mature eggs?

Hi Dr Q or Dr Littman, wondered if you could clarify something. In a recent post by Jilly titled "Give it to me in a nutshell please", Dr Littman gave some advise that confused both myself and Jilly. It was suggested that our eggs may not be good ones because we have long cycles, and that clomid may mature the eggs. My understanding is that clomid does not mature the egg, but just stimulates ovulation. Can you please clarify this. Many thanks.
