does a strangulated hernia damage the testes thus killing the sperm ?

hi ladies ,my hubby goes in for surgery tommorrow to have a strangulated hernia fixed i was wondering if this could be a problem in us not getting preggo as i am on clomid and have ovulated for the past 6 months and still no bfp our doc didnt tell us much as he said the hospital would do all the hard work and also we never asked about if it could affect his sperm count his last sperm count was 2 years ago and it was 129 mil then please any advice would be great as we have a doc app in 8 days to start the injections for our last and i need to know if we are wasting our time and money in goin if his sperm is

affected and cant be fixed thank u for ur time xxx

Hi lesley!

Unless the hernia went into his testis, then it may provoke an issue.

However, during hernia repair, sometimes the tubes that let the sperm out (Vas Deference) gets accidentally cut, leaving the sperm no way out of the testis. A test may be needed after the repair and talk to your surgeon about this.

A strangulated hernia should be repaired to provent further complications
