Do I need an Ultrasound?

Sunny, since you O on your own he probably does not think an u/s is necessary. The hcg shot is used more so for timing purposes. Are you doing an IUI or just BD?

You should be ok with just using opks. Now you can ask him for an u/s and the hcg shot if you feel more comfortable doing it that way.

not necessary to get an ultrasound, many don't get one when just on pills, either letrozole or clomid...

The main purpose for ultrasound is to monitor the prevention of multiple follicles and/or if one has had a history of poor endometrial lining...both of which are of very little risk with Letrozole. The other reason would be if one is very much interested in triggering with hCG the ovulation of mature follicles..

sunny- i was not monitored by u/s when i used clomid...just used opk's, temped, and bd'd all the time! :)

Sunny, I would say that one of the down sides to not having an U/S would be that you don't know what effect the meds are having on you. I did Clomid for 3 months and nothing happened, no BFP. So I don't know what was going inside (I ovulated on my own) so I feel like it was a wasted three months. If we had seen that yes there were lots of nice follies inside and it didn't work then I could think maybe the eggs weren't good ect. but I don't even know if I had any extra follies and if so did they mature. BUUUUT others take those meds and it works for them, guess we are all different. Wishing you lots of luck!!!!

Sunny- I think you should ask fro U/S.. since you have nver had it, it will give you an idea how you are doing on the Femara and if those follies are getting really big!!

You can still use OPK.. and not ask for HCG.. I found the HCG very uncomfortable.. your choice

Although I would love to know what my follies look like on meds, I think I will try this month with just OPK's & BD.

If nothing happens, I will move on to IUI.
