Cramping During Pregnancy

July 03, 2008

Hi Dr.Q and Ladies,

I'm currently 27w1d pregnant and all throughout the night last night I was experiencing cramping. They feel like menstrual cramps. I'm still having them now. I have had cramps here and there during pregnancy but they have always went away. But these are more constant. I know this is kind of gross to be telling you but do you think it may be because I have not gone #2 since Tuesday and it could be constipation? But It's only been 1 day without going to the bathroom? What do you think? Should I give my dr a call? Thanks so much in advance! I appreciate your help!

Hey Keller! I have been having the same thing since just about the same time. I think that my cramping started around 26 wks and has never really let up. If you are worried, I agree with Caryn, give the doc a call but I think that it is very normal. Good luck to you!

Keller my maternity book says try drinking some water..the cramping could be a sign that you are not getting enough fluids..and that may help..but i would call the doc and see what they say..but try drinking a glass of water and wait an hour and see what happens..i am sure it is nothing sweetie..take care

Thanks Summer! I didnt even know you changed your name! I'm like who is Famera Twins?! Thanks so much for your help! I calledmy doctor and I'm going in at 9:35 this morning. The nurse said it may be a bladder infection. I swear I have had more damn infections during this pregnany than I have the past 5 years! I'm just hoping I'm not going into labor or anything! I'll keep you posted with what they say. Thanks!

Yeah Keller i changed it..LOL..I just thought that it was cute...I hope that everythingis ok..When i was first preggo i had some bad cramping and I had a UTI also so that could be it..and when i finished the medication it went away..can't really tell if it was just early pregnancy cramping or form the UTI..because the cramping stopped and i finished the meds around week 7 so i am not sure..but anyways..keep us posted and i am sure that it will turn out great..Good luck..

Thanks girls! I went to the doctor this morning. She did an internal and tested me for a few different things. My cervix is very high, thick and closed, yay! And they hooked me up to a monitor for about a half hour to see if I was having contractions and I wasnt and the baby was moving around like crazy. She said it could be a UTI, bladder infection, yeast infection and she also did some test where they check to see if you will go into labor soon? I forgot what it's called. She told me to rest today and to drink at least a gallon of fluids because I could also be dehydrated. Which I know I am not drinking enough water at all! She said I can drink juice, milk or water but pop doesnt count! So I think I will just lay low today!

Also, I'm 27w1d today but I am measuring 28 weeks. Is it a big deal if I am measuring a little bigger? Does that mean anything?

July 03, 2008

Keller I am glad to hear that..It sounds very good and promising..it does not matter if you are measuring a little bigger than what you are in weeks..I think tha tis just an estimatin anyways..saying that what you are measuring should equal your gestational age..i think it is just a tool that they use to make sure that you are growing right..Take care and drink lits of water..

That's great Keller! Make sure you drink that water too! I let myself go a little bit and didn't drink water as much.....cramps and overall felt sick. So be careful. About measuring bigger. Not a problem. It's very common to measure bigger for a little bit and then level out. Your little one just may be in a growth spurt. This happened to me for a little while. Take care!
