Could this indicate gestational diabetes or maybe something else?

The past three days, I am experiencing something strange. Between 30-90 minutes after I eat, I start feeling really hot, then I start getting nauseas, then dizziness and a slight headache, and I feel like I must put my head down or lay down or I'm going to pass out. The only time I've felt something similar is (pre-pregnancy) times when I went more than 12 hours without eating, and my blood sugar was obviously low.

I've been watching it, and it appears to happen more quickly when I have soda, or more carbs than protein in a meal. I just had it happen again.. and I decided to drink a cup of OJ to see if I started to feel better by raising my sugar quickly.

I don't feel completely better (I drank it five minutes or so ago) but it did seem to halt the process. I am cooling down and am no longer nauseas or dizzy.. just a slight ache in my head.

Does this sound like anything in particular? It really seems like my blood sugar is dropping to me.. but I'm no doctor, and so far all of my urine tests have been normal as far as sugar goes.

OMG Meghan, I have a similar problem..As soon as I eat, my heart starts racing, I become severely tired and have to lie down. esp when I have high carb foods. Foods with WHole grain seem to work well for me, my issue is I feel my glucose levels are increasing after a meal. I test +++ for glucose though my 1 hr glucose screening is normal. Lets see what Dr Q says, but Im posting what he replied to my question below. I would suggest you go to your Dr and they will just run a sugar test on your urine sample and then see whats going on. My feeling is that your sugar levels are not dropping, but infact raising..esp with the high carb situation u mentioned.

Doesn't sound like gestational diabetes...not uncommon to have during pregnancy, but like always, let your doc know...

Adding, even though I am excreting sugar during pregnancy, I am not diabetic (atleast as yet) coz it is common for the kidney to bypass some sugar during pregnancy.
