That would be hard to figure out without knowing what codes would be charged by the hospital, dr, and anathesia. Though a freind of my mine had a baby two years ago with ins and she paid over $3000 just to the hospital.

I just gave birth in October. My total bills for a vaginal delivery after induction (3 nights in hospital) with epidural to be around $12,000 - $14,000. This also included my OB visits, bloodwork, and about 7 ultrasounds. I didn't have to pay near this amount after insurance, but these were the costs. This also includes 2 trips to E.R. for pregnancy complications with extra blood work/monitoring. Also, if you don't have insurance, I think you can negotiate your costs and sometimes pay less from what I have heard. I think the docs/hospitals charge more because the insurance will pay it, but if you pay out of pocket, they will help you out many times. Not sure about if it makes a difference for the non citizenship or not. Also think about the costs after delivery for baby. Your baby will be seen by a pediatrician before discharge from the hospital and will also have costs. Not to mention they will have many ped visits when babies. All of the costs can vary so much depending on coding as Tldouble said. The hospital will charge for every little thing you use while a patient there such as medications and supplies. All of this can affect how much you will pay in the end.

I had my boy 20 months ago via scheduled c-section. Without insurance it would have cost around $30,000. I am in Los Angeles though, so might be more expensive here. You might look into having a midwife delivery. I know that the average cost for a homebirth with a midwife in L.A. is $5,000. Many also have a birthing center.
