confusing cycle

I have consistent 30 day cycles, which is good news. But I am confused- after the 5th day of my period, I get light spotting (nothing on my underwear, just when I wipe) then it goes away and then it comes back on the 7th day when I wipe and I got a small spot of blood with my finger in my uterus. by the 8th day- totally clean. Why does my body do this? When would I ovulate?

The spotting wouldn't indicate anything about upcoming ovulation...some people also do have this, but if continuous, may not be a bad idea to check for uterine polyps and/or fibroids, along with other hormonal tests, if you're >35, an endometrial biopsy may be necessary
