Coming off the Pill

December 04, 2007

I came off the birth control pill (Diane 35) in September this year (took last pill on 21st September, had "forced" period on 26th September and have not yet had my first natural period. My husband and I are trying to conceive (first child) but I am finding it frustrating when I do not have a starting point. When should I begin to be concerned. Is it normal to miss a few periods after coming off the pill? My pill history is as follows: I took Nordette 28 for 8yrs (from 18 - 26 yrs), then had a break for around 9 months (period naturally came on time by themselves during this time), then went back on for 10 yrs (Diane 35) from 27yrs - 37yrs.

Thanks angelfish. I am already waiting for an appointment with obygyn... specialists are busy! My GP told me not to come back until no AF for 6 months but I don't want to wait that long. I already have an indefinite referral to a obygyn so will wait for a cancellation to come up.

Welcome Soxy!

Angelfish is right, going to your doc is the first place to start to make sure everything is ok...and if so, then you may wan't to ask for a pill that helps you ovulate, such as clomiphene (clomid) and this should hopefully help...We hope you learn more about fertility by searching through this site and asking others, so that you too can also help support others undergoing the same journey...

Good luck, and keep us posted..
