Clomid vs. Femara?
I have been on three cycles of Clomid. Two cycles at 50mg with successful ovulation and one at 25mg with no ovulation. However, each cycle on Clomid, I produced large follicles-usually two. They measured at 30mm each for three consecutive cycles which my RE explained were too large for his liking. My RE has suggested Letrozole 2.5 for me take. What is the difference between the two? If I produced large inadequate follicles on Clomid, will I not do the same of Letrozole? I'm just curious in what the difference is between the two. Thank you!

their mechanism of action is completely different (clomid keeps the brain from noting there's Estrogen around, triggering it to produce more FSH to make eggs vs Femara prevents the conversion of Testosterone to Estrogen...the lower Estrogen is sensed by the brain and triggers more FSH to compensate). Femara may be slightly superior to Clomid for ovulation induction and think will be good to try and we won't know your body's response until you try. I would be checked a little earlier for follicular response by your RE as a suggestion
