cervix position after ovulation

July 26, 2007

Its been six days since Ive ovulated, and Ive noticed that my cervix is still high and soft. Ive been having alot of wet cervical mucus as well. Also today for the first time my breasts have been sore, had a headache all day long and felt nausus in the afternoon.

Is this normal after ovulation? What is the cervix position suppose to be after ovulation and when does it change?

Good ol' Progesterone...keeping it real (in terms of ovulation of course :). Yep, those sore breasts, nausea, headache...you're at the peak of Progesterone levels right about now and for the next couple of days giving you some these types of symptoms. The cervix shouldn't move too much (if any at all) after ovulation (unless there's large and multiple cyst like we produce during IVF).

are these signs of pregnancy or are is it just signs of ovulation that will go away?

We did have sex around the time I ovulated, Im expected to get my next period around august 7th. Ive been trying to find information on what the cervix position would be after ovulation if pregnancy hasnt occured, but cant seem to find much on it.

These are normal signs of good ol' Progesterone, and if you are to get pregnant (we're crossing our fingers) then the "pregnancy hormone" winds up being some more Progesterone...As you can see, it's progesterone that keeps the pregnancy going. If you don't get pregnant, then the corpus luteum (that produces the Progesterone) fizzles away 14 days after ovulation inducing your period.

I'm hoping that since you timed intercourse appropriately that you won't get your period on the 7th. The cervical position has very little to do with ovulation or pregnancy and is of little clinical value, but one thing is for sure, is that if you do get pregnant, the cervix does soften up a bit, but I think it's usually not noted until a month or two has gone by.

Hang in there and we're all rooting for you!
