CarSeats?

October 06, 2008

Ok ladies so when did yall get the carseats in?

I will be 34weeks this Saturday and im wondering should we go ahead and do it then? OMG I cant believe its almost here, I have waited so long for this moment, and I cant believe its just around the corner.

Thanks again ladies! Are they easy to get it? Did any of you take it to the fire department or police station to make sure it was in right?

((((HUG))))

October 06, 2008

Good question, Im right behind you- and I cant believe it either. I was thinking about doing it 35-36 weeks just to be ready- thats also when Ill start packing the hospital bag ;0)

CANNOT WAIT! Can you believe it????

October 06, 2008

Yeah im thinking about doing it this weekend or next weekend for the carseats, just to have that all in and set.

The bag for me will be packed well I might pack it today, cause all I will need is some PJs, and some going home clothes and toiletries (which will pack later). Noahs stuff is packed for the most part, but need to move it to my big suitcase.

I cant wait either and I sure as heck cannot believe its right around the corner. OMG im soo ready :)

October 06, 2008

I did it all by 37 weeks. Then it was just wait, wait and wait! :)

hugs to both of you! Noah and Sydney are almost here!!!

October 06, 2008

Thanks Fran :)

I really think we might do it Saturday. As we are sooo busy from here on out, and I dont want to forget that VERY important carseat...hehe.

(((HUGS)))

October 06, 2008

Oh yeah.......my dh went out to get the car when we were to leave the hospital and saw about 4 dad's putting in the car seats! AThey were all mad and freaking out b/c they couldn't figure out how they went and all....even with directions! He just started laughing and was like......"you didn't know the baby was coming?"!!! So it is great to have it it and make sure you know how all the buttons work. You are all nervous with them and then can't figure out how things work......such a mess! :) HAve fun!

October 06, 2008

lYup.......that's the ticket. You never realize how complicated baby stuff can me! It took me 15min the first time I tried to use the stroller!! :)

October 06, 2008

OH and I forgot to say- my stepfather and brother are both police officers, and in MD they all have to be certified to put them in- so Im having one of them install it- :)

I think its a good idea to atleast get the installation checked out from the fire department or something- just to be as safe as possible. It will most likely be in right- but you just want to be sure!

I saw on baby story last week- the people had it in wrong and were going to leave from the hospital and had to leave to the firestation to get it put in again the correct way- the woman was histerical, obviously hormonal and had to leave their baby there for an hour while they did that- that would suck!

October 06, 2008

Fran oh I can only imagine how nervous and everything I will be that day, and yeah I will def be playing with ours just to make sure I can figure the darn thing out....haha, but OMG Brannon for some reason is soo good with doing stuff. He put this pack n play together last night that we got from a friend for his parents house, just a basic one without the bassinet at the top, but its for his parents for if they watch him for a night or whenever and he needs to sleep, my parents have one as well. Anyways he put it together in like 2.5 seconds was soo secure, and took it apart in like 2.5 seconds, I said ummmm have you dont this before and he is like nope, and im like ok well that would have taken me an hour to figure out...haha.

I think we will be taking my suv to the police station, and then his truck just to make sure both bases are in right and everything because yeah Lori I would HATE for that to happen!

cant wait to get it in though....soooo cute :)

Carseat is going by the front door though, because if I go into labor during the week a good friend of ours is coming to pick me up, and I want to make sure that we have the carseat at the hospital, I know my parents or something will be coming back here at some point to get our dogs to stay with them while we are at the hospital, but I just want that dang thing there, for when hubby gets there...haha, if its the weekend Brannon is in control :)

October 06, 2008

Good idea to put it by the car- cant forget it if you have to almost trip over it to get out the door! Yesterday a friend of ours got stung by a bee and hes very allergic, and he went to the ER, and DH had to drive him- well it was funny when he was leaving, I was watching him rush all out the door and pull out and down the road- I thought OH MY hes like a maniac, that is what will happen when I say- ok its time to go to the hospital... LMAO! You all it was histerical!

the neighbor is fine by the way...

October 06, 2008

hey ladies. i'm 35 weeks and 2 days and i STILL haven't put in the carseat! dh is going to do it some time this week or this week-end. the thing that held me up was that i was waiting on Target (i hate their online stuff... takes forever) to send me a protective leather cover.. anyway, it was taking too darn long (some hold up) so i ordered another one from WalMart and it came in like a week. its a kiddopatamus car seat protector so the base doesn't ruin the leather by indenting it. anyway, so i get my WM one first and then the Target one, same brand and the WM one is so much better. it's a lot sturdier w/ thicker fabric whereas the target one is like a fold up diaper changer. anyway, was waiting on that to come and that's why i haven't installed it yet.

i STILL haven't packed my bags yet, but i really need to. DH has had his bag packed for over a week... how funny is that.

if the carseat isn't placed exact... i will take it to the police station/fire station for them to look at or at least inspect.

looks like we're all on time based on fran's timeline. fran- hilarious about the dads in the parking lot! they had 9 months!!

October 06, 2008

Hey Girls!

We had our car seats installed by our loacl fire department. I would definitly have them do it because we put them in ourselves and just took them to the fire dept. to make sure they were in right and both bases in mine and my hubby's car were soooo wrong! So they fixed them for us and showed us what to do. I would def. reccommend doing that! We had ours installed between 35-36 weeks

Lori, that is too funny! My mom drove me to the hospital because we were having a carpet installed in our basement the day I went into labor. I could not believe how slow she was driving! I was screaming for her to drive faster and then she was hitting every pot hole and bump she could find! I thought little Jake was gonna fly right out every time we hit a pot hole!

October 06, 2008

LMAO- that is hillarious Keller- I bet he will drive slow too- like take it easy... but geez, get me there asap! We are only like 10 minutes door to door from the hosp- but still! And Im so sure I will go and be send home atleast 2 times. LMAO!

SO by the time its the REAL time, he will be like poking along, thinking well Ill be home in an hour- LOL and that will be the time Ill just say- get out and let me drive! LOL (not really I hate driving)

October 06, 2008

I got the same think Oli! It doesn't do much yet but it will be great to protect the seat when Caden eats and stuff when riding. I was so excited to get one b/c I could remember when I was younger my mom's seat where ruined and marked b/c of the car seats.

Getting checked is a good idea too. Sometimes babies r us has times when they have the police/fire department come there to check as well.

Too funny Keller.....I was the same way yelling at my dh. I was like do you want me to have this child in rush hour traffic!!! :) I was totally going to be the woman on tv having a baby in the car!

October 06, 2008

Oh goodness Lori that is soo funny, I bet it was a sight to see. Brannon would be the same way, shoot so would I. When my dad slit his leg open last year in the garage boxing mats up for shipping, it had been raining and the garage got a little wet, he JUST put a new blade in thing, and he slipped and cut his calf open....OMG talk about me freaking out, I couldnt even go in the garage I was a nervous wreck, and GUESS who had to drive. ME. My mom goes Jolene your driving, I said excuse me. All the while my dad is in the VERY back hurting over every bump, and im thinking OMG he is going to bleed to death...all in all he turned out fine, had TONS of stiches internal and external but im not good in situations like that, hope hubby is better...haha.

So yeah im def. going to take the carseat up to the firestation or police station sometime in the next couple weeks once installed.

Ladies what is this thing yall are talking about that protects the carseat or what not, im soo confused...can you send me a link?

Thanks!

October 06, 2008

yikes on your dad's leg!! glad everything turned out ok though.

October 06, 2008

Thanks ladies, so is this to protect leather seats? As I have leather seats. I never thought about protecting them....hmmm.

Thanks so much I put them on my registry!

Oliver, yeah me too, it scared the crap out of me, thankfully it was his lower leg, where there isnt a ton of blood to lose, but OMG it was bad. When we were in the ER, I just looked over for a second to make sure he was ok, and I saw the freaking thing, OMG the imagine has never left my mind, it was soooooooooo deep. OUCH!

Thanks for sharing these ladies!

October 06, 2008

I just have them on to protect my lighter colored seats, but I'm sure they would help for leather as well. When is your shower?

October 06, 2008

I would do it within a wk. I was going to do it at 35 wks with my ds, and I thought my co workers would laugh at me...surprise, surprise, I went into labor a 35 wks! :)

October 06, 2008

Fran I think it will protect them, that will be great. My shower is this Friday @ 7pm, CANT WAIT!!

Kelli yeah my whole thing I keep saying is from 36-40weeks it can happen, I will be induced @ 39weeks 6days, so anywhere from 36weeks till then I could possibly go into labor.

How big was your DS when he was born? Are you really tiny? Were you always measuring right on, and DS measuring right on his weeks, or did they think maybe there was a possibility you were a week or more further?

Just curious. One of my best friend Michaela had her daughter @ 36weeks, and she was 7pounds or so. I keep meaning to ask if she was always measuring her weeks and if Savannah was always measuring, or if they were both always measuring a little bigger. Michaela is so tiny as well.

Cant wait to meet my little man thats for sure :)

October 06, 2008

I was 35 wks when he came, and he had always been measuring a wk ahead by u/s..but we know for sure the conception date. He was still 6 lbs even, so he'd have been a monster had he gone to term. I weighed 108 when I got prego with him, and gained somewhere between 35-40 lbs I think.

October 06, 2008

Aww yeah he would have been huge if you would have gone to term. Maybe Noah will come on time. Whenever he is ready im ready, AFTER 35,36 weeks :)
