Can having a cyst on an ovary prevent a BFP to register?

Dear Dr. Q and Ladies,
A friend of mine told me today that a cyst on an ovary can delay a BFP to register. Is this true? I am curious because my surrogate is at 13 dpo today and still a BFN. I have been crying all day.
