Can clomid help with menopause? How does clomid work?

December 02, 2008

I had my last lupron injection for endo in September. In October I took provera. Never had a bleed. I called my doctor last month and he had me take clomid 100mg for 5 days. It's been two days since my last pill. Is there any test I can do at home to see if the clomid is working? I've been taking my temperature the last two days and its been 98.4 yesterday and 98.2 today. I have some pain and tenderness on both sides where my ovaries are but it comes and goes. I just want to know if the clomid is helping me get out of menopause. Thank you kindly for your time.

Plus I read online that if you take clomid BEFORE your period it weakens the drugs effects. Is this true? :(

Hi Kate,

Clomid won't help one get out of the "menopausal" symptoms provoked by lupron...

Clomid works by making the brain think there's no Estrogen around when there truly is...When one was on Lupron, there really was no Estrogen around to begin with and can say that the brain already knows this...

not until the lupron fully leaves the body will Clomid begin to work..

How would one know if Clomid is presently working: best way (although not full-proof) would be to check an Estrogen level (Estradiol)

Dr Q,How to check for Estrogen levels? Is this is something I can test at home or by doing blood test?

Estrogen is tested with blood tests.

TYpically, on clomid, you ovulate 5-10 days after your last pill. In my case, it was 9 days.
