Can Clomid have a lingering effect?

November 21, 2008

I took Clomid for the last 3 cycles and am no longer on it. I was wondering if it had a lingering effect, though.

as far as what? Like side effects or making you produce more eggs?

BTW, i dont think so tho :)

Oh, sorry! I meant as far as when you will ovulate the following cycles.

Laura... if ur not taking the Clomid anymore then ur body will go back to the way it was.

U shouldnt have any side effects that last until the next month w/o taking it.

I know that I didnt. Good luck and BABYDUST!!

my re told me it can wake up a side if it hasn't been working correctly on it's on before. Good Luck and lots of babydust!!!

hmmm.. my RE told me that if you are on Clomid for a few cycles it does stay in your system and can keep your body ovulating- she said it's sort of like a bicycle. It will give your body the momentum to keep doing what it's supposed to for a short period of time (coasting) until the momentum slows down and stops...

i don't think its clomid staying in your system as much as tricking your body in to just producing eggs and o'ing the way it did on clomid because it is "used" to it....kind of similar to how soe irregular women will be regular for a couple months right when they go off the pill...

good luck!

Ok, I was on Clomid for 4 cycles and I'm off this one. I O on my own, and both on and off Clomid, I O somewhere around CD 17-19. Today is CD 12 and my OPK is ALMOST positive. I've had a TON of CM, earlier than normal and am expecting to ovulate sometime in the next 2 days... nearly a week early.

NEVER EVER in my life have I O'd before CD 16. So, I dunno... lingering effects? Sure seems that way to me!

Clomid has a very extensive half life. I think I read somewhere that its like 4-6 weeks. So the longer you take it the more chances you have for over stimulated ovaries, thin lining, and hostile mucus. So yes I think it does stay in your system for a while after stop taing it and that will have an impact your you body.

Thanks ladies. I've noticed that I have had ZERO CM this cycle. So, it must be lingering for me. I'm on CD13 and usually for the past several days I've had a lot. I've had none so far. Guess I'll have to use Pre-seed this cycle.

I dont ovulate on my own. My gyno had me take clomid 25mg. i still did not ovulate, my RE put me on 50mg and I did ovulate. I took clomid for 2 months, this month i am taking a break. I did not ovulate this month. It didnt have a lingering effect on me. I guess its different for some people.
