Breakthrough bleeding/spotting on Femara (Letrozole)

I too had the same problem when I was on Femara. From what my dr told me, break through bleeding can suggest low estrogen levels. Also clomid can cause polyps to develop in the lining of the uterus and cause spotting and also irregular bleeding. This has caused me to develop a large ovarain cyst in which my dr put me back on bcp's to treat (of all things...trying to get pregnant and I have to go back on the bcp). I hope this helps.

Thanks for your help Bumble :), would I just need an estrogen supplement?, does that mean that my Femara dose is 2 high? I am on 5mg. I developed a cyst with Clomid before even though I had no breakthrough bleeding, the cyst ruptured and it was the worst pain I have ever experienced!. It was a hemorrhagic cyst which contains blood.

Maybe, if that is what it is. Did you know that Femara is also used to treat cancer, but it is also used by body builders because one of the effects of Femara is that it actually lowers your estrogen level, which for us can cause spotting. My dr wasnt too surprised when I told her about the spotting, so I guess that it was expected.For surely, be sure to let your dr know. My cycst was just found last week...hemorrhagic vs ovarian tumor vs endometriosis. I started having a pain in my lower pelvic area, heavy bleeding with my cycles until I passed out at work...Still not too pleased with the bcp's but hopefully it resolves the cyst. Another sono in 4-6 weeks.

I passed out 2 with mine, horrible feeling, I just knew that I was really ill. I will defo let my Dr know, I have a follicle scan on Monday so I will mention it then :). I hope that your cyst doesnt end up being a tumor or endometriosis, I have endometriosis and have so much trouble with it. I HATE it!! :(. I wouldnt like 2 take BCP while ttc but I think I might have 2 have another laparoscopy soon, so looks like I might need 2 take a few months out, I am not happy but if it leads to my BFP after nearly 2 and a half years of ttc, I will b happy :) **BABYDUST** hun

Wow...we could be twins. I have stage 2 endometriosis with dysmenorrhea since the age of 15. Laparoscopies are like vitamins that I have to every few years or so. TTC for 4 years now....and still waiting. Only 31 years old with so many reproductive problems. Have you had the IUI before?

Mine is stage 2 also lol. I think I have had it for a long time, but didnt get diagnosed till I was 24 or 25. I have found out that I have a retroverted uterus recently which I think is caused by the endo at the back of my uterus and on my ligaments, which means that the endo has got worse :(, I could be wrong, I have to speak to my RE. I think IUI will b my next step or injectables, I have to wait till December 2 find out what the next step is. I am 29 years old, so we r also close in age :), welcome 2 the site btw, u will b addicted in no time :)

LOL....retroverted uterus ....yeah me too. I started with Femara since my RE totally likes it better than clomid. I tried it three times along with the Gonal F injectable. The whole time my RE was like...dont worry...just relax, which seems like the easiest thing do but was so hard for me. Especially with everything being so timed. I was always excited but come towards the end...I would get nervous...just to start my cycle. I did that 3 times and each time, I became more and more emotional, so I decided to take a break. I think I will start back in the spring and just work on being spiritually happy right now...hopefully that will reduce the stress.

I find it hard 2 relax 2 especially with all the monitoring. I have done 8 cycles of medication now, I have had breaks in-between, I think the breaks do help to relax your mind and gives your body a much needed break, **BABYDUST** hope that you get a BFP as soon as u ttc again, good luck!! and keep in contact :)
