I do not think I am having the flu, I am feeling fine now- I would think with the flu- whether its the 24 hour bug, or something else, I wouls image I would still be sick. The bleeding I experienced was about 2 days later than scheduled menses.

Breakthrough Bleeding is basically bleeding that occurs when it shouldn't because normal hormones were being produced to keep you from bleeding. This type of bleed can not be your menses which readily occurs about 14 days after ovulation.
Breakthrough bleed can be light as in spotting or can also be very heavy.
In your case, you would need some blood tests or ultrasound and/or another hpt to determine where in your cycle you're at, and this is normally done at any doc's office as basically impossible to say where each particular person is at once symptoms aren't consistent...
ie., was it your period (most likely) and now you're having flu like symptoms...
