Braxton Hicks - Hicks....(Dr any advice....)
March 21, 2008
I'm 22 weeks with twins and started having braxton hicks last week. I've now had quite a few and sometimes my stomach is rock hard for long lengths - sometimes for 10-30 seconds sometimes minutes. I've read if you lay down it's supposed to help (or drink water) but have had them most of the morning while laying on my left side and drinking lots of water. I drink A LOT OF WATER!! I did call the nurse on Monday b/c it was pretty constant and she asked if I had a busy weekend and I somewhat did but now i know i haven't these last couple days and have been resting and still get them when I rest. Walking I definitely get them.
What should I do? is this normal? can gas cause the stomach to tighten up this much. I am rather constipated (sorry tmi) - but not all the time.
Happy Easter everyone!

Thanks girls - have had a few more so called nurse...she wants me to watch them for the next couple hours and if painful or have 4-6 an hour then call back - they'll send me over to L&D. the girls have been really active today - i was just watching my belly move! i think they were having a party, guess i should've turned some music on for them!haha
YAY Jolene 5 weeks!!!! it's going to go by so fast. i remember the nausea and tiredness started really setting in at 6-7 wks.
other than this things are GREAT!!! looks like i will be calling nurse back - i've had 6 last hour and 1/2 way into this hr i've had 4 but one was when i got up to pee and usually get them when i get up so i'm saying technically 3. i'll be glad to know everything is ok and just not worry about it.

Aww Shelly,
The girls sound quite rambunctious already! Already pratying and their not even out of the womb yet, lol! I'm sure things are fine hun. A friend of mine had the same thing with twins... she was on bed rest for a little while and then delivered them right on time at 38 weeks. Dont worry hun! Definitly keep an eye on them and if it gets worse make sure to keep your dotcor posted or go to the ER. Give the girls a nice belly rub from Aunt Keller :)

hey girls - well by the time i got to labor &del. on fri contractions were every 2-3 min. they immediately got me on monitors and iv. it ends up it was a slight urinary tract inf - the then gave me morphine (twice) and antibotics via iv. i stayed the night b/c contractions never slowed down. they released me on sat with strict bed rest orders and gave me a list to come rt back if anything on the list happens.
i am still having contractions every 5-6 min. but they said as long as no pain, af type cramps or bleeding /leakage its ok. i call my doc in the am and go in for follow up to see if all is ok and if i will stay on bedrest. they need the babies to at least hold on 2 more weeks but hopefully this infection will pass quickly and I'll carry to term. thanks for all the thoughts and prayers!!!! this has been quite the emotional test but trying to keep it together to not stress the girls. Funny thing is they are so ACTIVE - they aren't phased one bit - i think they like all the attention!! i'm feeling them so much now and so is DH!

Im sure those little lady bugs are fine in there- just stretching out to make more room- and probably fighting over the space :) Good luck! Keep resting and keep up the fluids :)
