IVF with PGD is a highly accurate way of selecting the desired gender. With PGD which stands for preimplantation genetic diagnosis... a cell is removed from the embryo at its omnipotent stage and then this cell is analyzed for its chromosomal makeup. Usually only 3-8 of the 23 chromosomes are tested so you can still have an embryo with an abnormality but it does help to decrease the most common abnormalities before they happen. Gender selection in this case is done by only placing the embryos in the uterus which have the desired gender. This procedure is usually an additional cost to IVF. It usually cost an additional $6000.00
In my case I looking for conceiving a girl.. I read alot of the Shettles Method.. Which states if you want a girl to bd 2-3 days before ov. since they are slower swimmers and live longer.. So by the time you ov. the boys will have already been there and died off and girls are all that left..
For a boy, wait and do no bd til the day of ov. to insure they get there first, since they are the more dominant swimmers...
I know I conceived both my boys on the night of my +opk, that was positive in the am.. So I know it was right for them.. This time I was going to try for a girl but I ended up o'ing 2 days early so I think I'm having another boy but also bd'ed 2 days prior so maybe theres a chance.. Still have a wait to find out...
Good luck:)
