Blood Type of my Husband

January 06, 2008

Does anyone know where we cam go to find out what my husband's blood type is? Being that I have an RH- blood type it is imperative that we know what his is as well.

Thank you!!

You will have to get blood drawn from the Dr. Office and they will check it. They will be able to tell you in a few days.

Great!! Thank you.

who's doctor? the obgyn or a regular family doctor? Because I have the same problem. I am B- but my husband has never been typed. Our family doctor won't do it because he said if we ever need it for an emergency that a hospital would do it then.

Your family Doctor, We had to get my hubby's checked. And it was our family Doctor who did it. just a simple blood test will do it

Hmmm, we may have to just ask my obgyn because our family doc said no.

Our Family Doc said that we should have it done. I am sure your Ob Doc will do it. You might also want to check with the Blood center. If he donates blood they will check his blood type also.

I'll call him in the morning and try to explain the situation to him myself. I don't see why he cares if we want it done or not, ya know...

Hey if your family Dr is not doing that for u, just ask your ob-gyn for an Rx. its a harmless test and Im sure any Dr can request for it.

January 07, 2008

Yes that is what I was thinking Hope...I'm gonna call our family doc myself this morning and see how far I get with him, if he says no then I'll call my obgyn.

i made my DH give blood and they sent him a blood donor card with his type. And he got to do a good deed, we all won that way!!

Our family doc said no and so did the OBGYN. I guess I will have to try something else.

January 20, 2008

As gluewho suggested, have him donate blood. They'll type it for him, plus he'll be doing a good deed.

January 21, 2008

Yep I really think that's the only way. Our family doc and my obgyn both said they won't do it just to do it and both suggested he donate blood. Easier said than done...he hates needles.

January 21, 2008

yes I was going to say donate as well. also if you can talk to your husband's mom that would help. They should have blood typed him when he was born. That is how we found out about my husband b/c I'm O-! Super fun isn't it! :)

January 21, 2008

Can you believe tho that my husband was never typed! Not as a baby, not ever. His mom has no clue of his blood type. I couldn't believe it!

I will try asking my mother-in-law but I think that we did once before and she did not know his type either.

Thank you all of the advice. I think that donating blood is a great idea.

HUGS!!
