Blood clots during cycle.

August 12, 2008

Hi, since being on this website I have learned that blood clots can cause problems. I never really realized that I had them as I thought it was just the way the lining shed. I have blood clots that range from pea to marble sized.

I also have long cycles with long AF. For example I am still spotting today on CD8.

Is this something I need to be worried about and discuss with my doctor? I have been TTC for 14 months now with no luck.

Blood clots, unless it's provoking anemia, may not be much of a problem with menses...

The blood clots you're probably referring to are the ones that can occur in one's limbs, as these can be very dangerous

Hi Dr. Q, my blood results have been good for iron so I don't feel like I need to be worried about anemia. Someone else had said that they had a miscarriage due to a blood clot in the placenta, so I was worried that blood clots could be preventing implatation or something. Sounds like I shouldn't worry though?

This is when one is pregnant, and are called "subchorionic hemorrhage", which are unpreventable
