Blocked tubes.

June 11, 2008

HI. i had a misscarrige in sept 07 which reulted in 3 d&c to clear me up. Have been trying to get pregnant for 3 mths and no luck and my doc wants to do a laperoscopy to check if my tubes are blocked. I have had 4 abdomen and pelvic surgeries and have also suffered from endometriosis in the past(not in the last 5 years). Should i be worried? What is a hsg test and how does it work?

Hi Bstar,

I have had an Hsg test done and trust me it is a much better option if you want to check if the tubes are open.

Its simple it takes about 10 to 15 min and a particular dye is inserted and the machine picks up images or xray of the tubes. If tubes are open the dye passes instantly.

I hope all this helps you.. and Sorry about ur loss....

May god bless you,

An HSG like MIA says is the best non-invasive test to check tubes...

A laparoscopy, although more accurate, many times is done if other things are also suspected, such as endometriosis...
