A little spotting may be ok, however, let your doc know...
Bleeding?
May 19, 2008
Dr Q.. my dr checked my cervix today, to see if its open enough for me to come back on Friday to have the membranes stripped, and she said she was doing a small amount of stripping..
Well.. I just now started bleeding.. like 2 hours after the exam.. it was brownish in my panties and it is red on the tp... how much bleeding is normal, and at what point should I be concerned? Also, is it a good sign that I'm having some bleeding after the 'small amount of stripping'?

I'm glad that your doctor is willing to strip your membranes by Friday. I also started to bleed when I was first checked at 37 weeks. I panicked about that. It also happened around 2-3 hours after I came back from my appointment. The bleeding lasted the whole day, then the blood turned from bright red to reddish brown, and then more darkish brown afterwards the days after. I had to wear a pantiliner for the entire week because even if I wasn't bleeding profusely anymore, the mucus discharge was mixed with the old blood (brownish red) that was caused from the internal exam. Oh my, Meghan! We might have Bella and Christian over the weekend!! Most women who get their membranes sweeped deliver within 24-48 hours. If I'll be induced and delivering on Thursday and you'll have your sweep on Friday, Christian will follow through on Saturday!! How exciting!! :-)
