BFP - Thanks Dr. Q and to all the supportive and wonderful people on Fertility Ties!

December 15, 2007

I just wanted to say thank you for answering my questions and even though I don't post a lot, I have learned so much just from the questions and answers posted by the doctors and other members. Everyone here is absolutely wonderful and supportive.

I am so happy that I got my first positive hpt and I know that I am only about 14 days post ovulation +or-2 days. My dh was out of town and came back in town on the same day that I got my smiley face/positive opk on the clear blue easy digital ovulation monitor. So we wasted no time whatsoever in the Bding department.

I had some extra HPTs of different brands that I had on stand by. And I had a couple of weird symptoms that led me to start testing at 10 days dpo in the evening. I got a really faint shadow on one test and then I tried a second test on which I got a really really ( I almost had to cross my eyes to see it but it was there) positive. I didn't want to get my hopes up so I waited until the next morning to use FMU, but that test was even fainter so I was a little disheartned. Then after I got off work, I tested again in the evening and the positive line was a little darker not very much darker, but then again, I thought that I was seeing things. I was expecting my period to start on Thursday or Friday at the very lastest.

Well on Friday morning, I got extremly hot while I was sleeping and I woke up at 4:00am to turn the air on which was unsusal for me because normally AF has shown up and my temps have dropped. I was restless and couldn't go back to sleep so I took another test and the positive line was def there but still very, very faint. Well, I had the more expensive digital HPT and I decided to try that one and in about a minute, it read pregnant. I kept looking at it because I still couldn't believe it.

For some reason, I am not sure if I got a bad batch of the FRER(3 pack) tests because my positives are still very, very faint almost non-existent using that test, but I have been getting better results with some of the cheaper brands and of course with the digitals. I even tried a second digital from a different brand and it was positive too. (Now, I am obsessively testing with all brands of HPTs......lol! Also I notice that I get darker lines when I test in the evenings as opposed to using FMU.

I just wanted to encourage the other ladies on the forum to stay positive and your baby dreams will come true.

If you have any questions, just let me know and I will answer them.

Now I just hope and pray that this one sticks!

Hi Keller,

Thank you so much!! And I am wishing you a BFP very soon, too!!! Just keep thinking positive and tell yourself that it is going to happen. I went off the pill in Jan 07 after being on it for 10 years. It took a few months for my cycles to get normal and we officially started TTC in April. I turned 35 and my DH is turning 37 and neither of us has kids and I have never been pregnant. I have hypothyroid and was diangosed with that 10 years ago and it was so underactive that my doctor said that if I didn't get it under control, then I could have major problems with fertility. They even put me on fertility meds back then to regulate my hormones and I was put on BCP to regulate my cycles and to keep me from getting pregnant at that point.

So when we decided to start TTC, I started right away with getting everything rechecked and I always try to take my Thyroid meds. My family doctor gave me a clean bill of health, and I started tracking my cycles, checking for EWCM and doing OPK kits. Since I am officially over 35 now, I started freaking out that maybe we wouldn't be able to get pregnant since it didn't happen the first few months. I even asked my doctor about putting me on fertility meds but she wanted to do further testing to rule out other things before putting me on meds. My day 3 fsh and day 21 progesterone test came back normal and she said the next step if was not pregnant in the next few months was to due an HSG and to have dh tested. I was bummed, but decided to listen to her advice.

But I did start doing research on vitamins, supplements and herbs because I have always been big on taking vitamins!!

I was using the Clear Blue Easy OPK that gives you a smile face read out and it was right on the money each month and my cycles became very predictable. The one thing that I did notice that concerned me was that I was not producing alot of EWCM so I ordered Preseed to help out. This was our second month using it so I think that it helped. Also, I started watching my diet and started taking flaxseed oil. I used EPO from cycle day 1 up to the day that I got the postive OPK and I also used Vitex for about 3 months. I also increased my b vitamin intake and took extra b6. I am not sure if all this worked or if it was just conincidence but something happened for sure.

I got a positive OPK on CD 12 so we BDd that night, early the next morning and couple of times on the days after that. (I know that it is TMI...)

Hi Jojo,

CONGRATS on your wonderful news!! I hope you have a happy, healthy pregnancy.

Did you BD only on the day of your positive OPK, or other days, too? It would be helpful if you could share stuff like how long your cycles are, what day you got +OPK, and BD schedule?

Sorry to pry -- it just gives me hope! I'm ttc#1 and we're now on month 7...

Thanks, and take care!

Christine

Hi Christine,

Thank you and just remain positive because it is going to happen for you soon. Def. I can try to answer as many questions as possible.

My LMP started on 11/18 and my cycles have been consistently 26-27 days. I have been using the digital opks and I have been getting positive opks on CD12. Here is what I did. By the way, I didn't tell DH about it being the peak time because I know that he was feeling stressed and pressure about us not being successful before so I just let him take the lead on the BDing and I think that it helped.

CD12 positive OPK - BDd that night around 11pm

CD13 BDd early in the am again around 4:00 am

CD14 BDd night time around 11 again

CD15 BDd early am around 3

I hope that that is not TMI but I was aware of the time because I would try to stay still for a few minutes afterwards to help the swimmers, but then I would race to the bathroom so I could avoid UTI and I always have a habbit of checking the time when I am in there.

I know that back to back BD may not seem like a good idea but I am glad that we did BD evening and early morning because I was never really sure if I was one of those who ovulated within a few hours of my LH surge or if I Od like 36 hours later.
