Beginning of my Journey
July 09, 2008
Well, when we got married 2 years ago, we decided to wait a while to have children. With him being in residency and me trying to climb the corporate ladder, I thought that would be a great idea...
We spent as much time as we could on our days off and taking vacation whenever possible. Our lives were good...
Then in the fall of 2007, things started to tumble for us. I was diagnosed with RA. At first, I didn't really understand what that entailed. After extensive research and lab work things started to look even more grim. I was regressing pretty quick and my rheumatologist asked about our plans for children. Because of the medications for RA is detrimental to the baby, he needed to know what our plans were. I will be honest, I had no idea what to tell him.
That night, I went home and talk to the hubby about what we wanted to do. We talked about all the complications RA can bring to the pregnancy - from higher risk for birth defects to higher risk for miscarriages. We were very scared but we knew we wanted to have kids in the future.
On top of the RA, I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 17 and we knew we were going to have issues conceiving. So with all the info about RA and PCOS, we decided to go see a RE.
That is where our Baby making journey begins...
CD1 began 6/28/08
CD4-CD8 took 50mg CLOMID
CD10 LH Surge and IUI procedure
I am currently on D12 counting down to CD24 so I can take HPT to see if I am pregnant.
I really hope that sperm found the egg because there are a lot of people waiting to hear the news!
Keep your fingers and toes crossed for us! We are going to need it!

So now I am at CD 18 and 8 dpiui...Time is moving so slow right now. So here are some symptoms I am having...cramps (since the day of IUI), exhaustion, sleepiness, nausea, watery CF (clear),palpitation below my belly button. So do you ladies think it is too early to be feeling these symptoms? Do you think it may be prog symptoms? I am also feeling butterflies in my tummy as if I am nervous...what is that all about?what do you ladies think?
Hey Making...well I had 3 IUIs and 4 months of clomid and we are not preggo yet. I actually did get preggo last month on my last IUI but ended in a m/c. :(
So now, My DH and I decided to go through IVF. I started birth control pills and going though all the work ups now.
So where are you in Philly....I actually live in Jersey...right across the bridge...20 minutes from center city philly...

Making...I live in Cherry Hill...You know...PHILLIES ROCK!
So are you seeing a local RE? I used to see one from South Jersey Fertility but they didn't accept my insurance so I had to go to Penn Fertility. It actually worked out well since I work in Center City...
So what clomid dosage are you on for the 4th cycle?
I wish you all the luck for your 4th cycle...I am you will get your bfp soon enough!

Hi Amy2-
Thanks, i am trying to be ok..
Well when i talked to my doctor today he said since all the other meds didnt work it would be best to do IUI without meds, I get a bright + OPK every month and have done blood work so we know i am def Ovulating so he said based upon that hopeful thinking. Just curious what meds are you thinking of?

Hi, Faith! I am actually going through IVF this cycle. Picked up my meds today and I just have to say...it is intense....I start Lupron shots on Saturday....Tentatively the egg retrieval is set for Nov 17 and embryo transfer on Nov 20. We will see how it goes.
I actually did IUI for 4 cycles. I did in fact got my BFP but ended in a chemical. It was a sad day for me but it was just not in my cards just yet. Hopefully IVF is what we need to get preggo!
I know that some need supplemental progesterone. It comes in different forms: oil, cream, suppositories...I know I have to get the oil shot after my embryo transfer....
Don't lose hope Faith...we will all eventually get our BFP soon enough...

No....I have been on birth control for about 4 weeks until they can figure out what needs to be done. I have another week or so left of the pills....in that time I had to get my antral follicle count, whole bunch of blood tests, my DH had to get his 2nd SA done and they have to time the cycle to when the lab is available for the egg retrieval. So with that the whole process will take about 8 or 9 weeks and 2 week wait....
It is really not technically based on my natural cycle. They put you on BCP then Lupron, so my "cycle" is the Lupron bleed. Then I go in for my baseline ultrasound and blood work, then about a week later, I start Follistim then Menopur.
It so much to do...I am just taking one day at a time.
Everything is very overwhelming for me...
